McCain, why have you abandoned your anti-lobbyist stance?
I liked McCain 2000's crusade against Lobbyists. Why has McCain 2008 abandoned that stance?

I don't accept your premise. Is it not possible for McCain to propose lobbying reform while also employing lobbyists? In fact, we know it's possible. Why?
McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis was a lobbyist for the HomeAlliance Group, a group of 20 organizations that included Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from 2000 to 2005. Of course, McCain introduced a bill to reduce the risk Fannie and Freddie posed to taxpayers... back in 2005. So one of McCain's current staffers was a lobbyist for a group that included FM/FM, and yet during that time, McCain introduced legislation those groups opposed. Has Obama ever proposed a law that his biggest and most well-heeled donors would object to? Nonetheless, what was McCain's "stance" on lobbyists in 2000? And how is that in conflict with his current employment of lobbyists? |
