Biden garbles Depression history

I like him, he is VERY entertaining.....

Who is smarter this guy or Dan Quayle?

Quote:
"When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed," Biden told Couric. "He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"

As Reason's Jesse Walker footnotes it: "And if you owned an experimental TV set in 1929, you would have seen him. And you would have said to yourself, 'Who is that guy? What happened to President Hoover?'"

Very entertaining indeed! Barry and Joe are running a three-legged race here, with Joe's foot in his mouth so much of the time...

Re: Biden garbles Depression history

Joe Biden is a lovable character and he's also very smart. I'll take his linguistic mistakes that are clearly understood by all as such, to a pat answer from a yes man any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I also think he drinks.
Another plus in my book. Anybody who was a politician for thirty years and didn't drink would be crazy or dead by now.

First. A definition of "clean coal"

Quote:
"Clean coal" is an umbrella term used in the promotion of the use of coal as an energy source by emphasizing methods being developed to reduce its environmental impact. These efforts include chemically washing minerals and impurities from the coal, gasification (see also IGCC), treating the flue gases with steam to remove sulfur dioxide, and carbon capture and storage technologies to capture the carbon dioxide from the flue gas. These methods and the technology used are described as clean coal technology. Major politicians and the coal industry use the term "clean coal" to describe technologies designed to enhance both the efficiency and the environmental acceptability of coal extraction, preparation and use,[1] with no specific quantitative limits on any emissions, particularly carbon dioxide.
It has been estimated that commercial-scale clean coal power stations (coal-burning power stations with carbon capture and sequestration) cannot be commercially viable and widely adopted before 2020 or 2025.[2] This time frame is of concern to environmentalists because, according to the Stern report, there is an urgent need to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.
The concept of clean coal is said to be a solution to climate change and global warming by coal industry groups, while environmental groups maintain that it is greenwash, a public relations tactic that presents coal as having the potential to be an environmentally acceptable option. Greenpeace[3] is a major opponent of the concept because emissions and wastes are not avoided, but are transferred from one waste stream to another.
(from Wiki)
Second, I will relate an anecdote from my own experience:
My daughter spent a year in China teaching English. When she returned to the states, she had to see a doctor. He told her she had the lungs and throat of a 40 year old smoker.
There ain't no Santa Claus and there ain't no clean coal.

Probably. Haven't you seen some other suggestions they are not on the same page on other issues? I have.
When Bush was running against Reagan he called his economic theories "voodoo economics", but you didn't see Bush(talking about the old man) say too much when queried about their differences. Then when he got his chance at the Presidency, he did it his way. I happen to think he saved us from a recession, but that's not helping me explain Joe Biden.
I think Joe is a talker. And you're bound to tell how you really feel if you're given free reign and no tight play book.
Another example-and this was while he was President-JFK and Johnson didn't exactly see eye to eye. I like that better than people who never say much that has any real substance. Don't you?

Bush mispeaks so often its not even noteworthy, because its expected of him.

Biden's statement is accurate in the larger sense, unless you take a literalistic view of "when the stock market crashed" to mean the day it crashed.

When FDR took office, it was still crashed.
