Republican party platform is passed

And guess what it includes? No abortion - Period. Not to spare the life of the mother, and not for rape or incest.

I will be the first to tell you that this is not McCain's position, but McCain IS running on the Republican platform. If the GOP gets their way, the states won't get to decide this either.

It is not a bad thing that Roe v. Wade gets overturned, but those that follow the GOP platform will want the Federal government to take the decision out of the hands of the states, and to make ALL abortion a crime. If a woman's life is in the balance, she dies. If a woman is raped, she is forced to carry the rapist's fetus to term.

But don't take my word for it. Just look at the GOP platform.

Which is why a woman who is pro-choice voting for McCain because he put a woman on the ticket is the same as a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

McCain might have moderate views when it comes to abortion, but tonight, he was outflanked by the crazies.

Article is here.

Re: Republican party platform is passed

And if McCain wins the election and eventually is the one signing bills into law, do you think he's just going to vote the party platform despite his stated disagreement with it, AFTER he's already done with the election?

The GOP document, which is nonbinding, does not provide exceptions allowing abortion in cases of rape, incest or where a mother's life would be in danger -- all favored by McCain. McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, opposes abortion in all cases, consistent with the platform.
McCain is free to be a real conservative regardless of what the crazy socialist wannabe-conservatives say and do.

The quote you had is interesting as well because OnTheIssues actually has it saying Palin is not against it if the mothers life is in danger

I believe that McCain has put his political ideology and integrity up for sale. After the election...bah, it's all about before the election. It is there that candidates are to show us their resolve. To put forth to the People their ideals and platforms so that we may make educated decisions. Doing different things after you're elected...BAH HUMBUG! You elect people on what they tell you they are going to do, and if they change that after the election, the what the hell was the point? At that point you're just randomly voting for people whom you don't know their behavior afterward. It has to be before, they have to tell us their honest to goodness policies and ideals so we know if we match up with them. Anyone willing to drastically change, planed change while they are running on something different, isn't worth putting into power. You just don't know what you're going to get, and if they aren't going to be honest with the People, honest to the source of all their power and authority, then how are we going to trust them and know what we are getting when we vote for them? Anyone willing to put their political resolve and integrity up for sale is not worth having in office.

Maybe that's why I love Ron Paul so much. I may not agree with 100% of what he says, but you can bet your bottom dollar that what he says is what he will do. Plus, I mostly always agree with what he had to say.

We have let integrity and honesty escape the political system, and we shouldn't bet on one doing opposite of what they say in the election. Politicians must be held to their word because it is their word on which we elect them. We NEED honesty and integrity and resolve back into the political system. Without it, we are doomed to tyranny and treason.

I've seen that as well... But that's kinda like saying she's the less extreme extremist.

Given the choice between a candidate who is absolutely behind his party's policy of allowing abortions for anyone, for pretty much any reason, or a candidate who has stated that his position is abortion only for certain cases, which may be in opposition to his party's platform, (and I agree with this position), I'll stick with the guy I agree with. I'm a person that doesn't vote based on what a "party's platform" is. I vote on who I'd like to see as president out of the most likely to become that way. It's only my guess, but I think there are a lot of people on both sides who vote like this. This probably goes for many Independents as well.

If you are voting for Obama, do you agree with everything about the Democrat's platform? Does he?

ps: sorry about the typo earlier. kinda tired here.

Can you link to evidence that Mc.Cain oposes all abortion for any reason?

..because I can provide evidence that Obama supports killing the child even after birth.

Read my OP again, slowly this time, before you post again. I will not provide a link in this thread that backs something that I did not claim. You are, however, free to do so, if you wish.

I read it just fine the first time and your fear that Mc.Cain would somehow ban all abortion was and is crystal clear.

..and if it's the rapist's fetus, doesn't he get the say on rather it's aborted or not, and not the mother?
