Windfarms > cutting oil dependency in half.

Make you a deal - Let's do both, then we can both tell OPEC to eat it's oil.

I'm not against nukes at all. Anything that can stop our money from flying away to the Middle East I am all for. Problem is, although nuke plants can be built relatively quickly, the politics means that it will be 20 years before any practical reduction in oil use. The main problem is that everybody wants nukes, but nobody wants them in their own back yard.

Where do we get the fissionable material from?

Actually, off the East coast, is a bona fide free resource. The tides. Tidal power could be used to produce hydrogen, and that power would be practically free. Within 20-25 years, we can have a hydrogen economy. Only one kink needs to be worked out - Containers that can hold hydrogen. Hydrogen atoms are so small that they can work themselves through steel containers and go out into the atmosphere, but a carbon container utilizing nanotubes can hold hydrogen. Still, this is in the future, but it IS pretty damn exciting. Many people might be pessimistic about the future, but not me. I am optimistic as hell.

Oh I am too. Especially when the market decides to make it happen.

We can't drill our way out of this mess.
We can't conserve our way out of this mess.
We can't alternative our way of of this mess.

But by using all 3, we can make a huge dent in the mess....

and I would love to see OPEC countries begging us to sell them food...
We could be one of the major providers of the OFEC countries, the Food Exporters. Seems to me that $147 a barrel for grain crops would be a fair price.....
