That being said, the disorder absolutely exists, and I've worked with those that have it. However, it is far, far less prevalent than people think.

It seems to be the new fad in diagnosis for people.

Oh and there are pills that keep saving my life. Right now that pill is Lexipro. | People who depend on Xanax, Valium, or Oxycodone for regular use have a drug abuse problem, or they are living on a bed somewhere and are good clients for the old Dr. Kevorkian. |

The more this happens, the more these disorders become "garbage-can" diagnoses with little meaning. I really don't see that many people who are truly BiPolar, yet the mislabeling is out of control. |

My mother relies on Oxycodone (among other things) to function. She could not move through out the day due to intense bodily pain if she didn't take the pain killers like oxycodone, Lyrica, and celebrex.

Im no head doctor, and thus Im not edumucated in all this stuff, but in my job we have to deal with alot of people with mental disorders, and like with alot of things, we can usually tell when something isn't right.
The worst part is that people use things like being Bi-Polar as a crutch, or an excuse for their poor behavior. This is the end I see alot of. |

Plus, Its always disappointing to see people who are "proud" that they are loaded up on drugs and boast about it publicly.
Not saying its something you should be ashamed of, but it shouldn't come up in regular conversation much unless your having a serious talk about your physical ailments.
Folks who boast about using serious narcotics on a regular basis for their pain usually have a drug abuse problem, just my personal experiences. |
