He said that hospitals need to spread rumors in Spanish that they use emergency rooms to kill patients and harvest their organs. That would, according to him, solve the problem of illegal aliens causing hospitals to go broke.
I have a couple of problems with this:
1) I am all for sending illegal aliens back across the border, and putting our troops there to keep them from crossing back over. However, denying them emergency medical treatment is a crime, and about as unamerican as one can get.
2) And what about those Hispanics are here illegally, and American citizens of Hispanic decent? Circulating rumors in Spanish would affect them too. Seems Niven makes no distinction between legals and illegals.
This is not the first time Niven has caused controversy. In his book, Lucifer's Hammer, he writes of black Americans descending into cannibalism. Niven does write some good works, but his rascism frequently comes out in what he writes. He is also as crazy as a loon. Who else but a nut would wear a cuckoo clock on his head?
