Letter to John McCain

Dear John;

I just wanted you to know that if you continue acting like a moderate on the issues that are near and dear to the Conservative base you will LOSE an election the Democrats are desperately trying to hand you.

I am already at the point of having to hold my nose to vote for you but the more you speak out against 527's, which were a direct product of YOUR own efforts, and against the North Carolina Republican Party's ads, the less likely I am to even hold my nose to vote for you.

You're politics stink to high heaven and your efforts to "reach out" to people who would kick you to the curb the first chance they have is stupid to say the least. You do not WIN in the arena of ideas by trying to sound and act like your opponents; you WIN by arguing your views and sticking to your principles. You cannot be all things to all people, so please be a Conservative at least.

If you do not start acting like a leader for the Conservatives, many like myself will abandon you and wait for someone who is a REAL leader. If you think that the leftists are not going to "swift boat you" (they already have) because you are going to wage a "clean" campaign you are not only naive, you are downright STUPID.

I am not looking for someone who "gets along" with people. Many like me are not looking for someone who "gets along." We are looking for LEADERSHIP, someone with a SPINE, someone who argues for their principles and by doing so brings those on the other side into supporting our party, our principles and our beliefs.

It is Basic Politics 101. If you continue to sound and act like a politician pandering to anyone and everyone, and continue to attack those who are part of your base, you will RIGHTLY lose this election and perhaps Americans will be better off for it. After 4 years of Osama’s or Hillary's socialism, Americans will once more look to Conservative LEADERSHIP to lead them back to the light and you will wallow in irrelevance.

Do those of us who believe the Liberal foundations and principles that founded this nation all a favor, start ACTING and SOUNDING like a Conservative with Conservative principles instead of this typical Washington namby pamby insider who wants to appease those who seek to destroy your party.

Carry on Senator. You have until November to win me back.

Mantra and Principles to abide by:

Main Entry: lib·er·al·ism
Function: noun
Pronunciation: 'li-b(&-)r&-"li-z&m
1 : the quality or state of being liberal
2 a often capitalized : a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity b : a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard c : a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties

Is it me....or does this letter seem to argue that McCain should engage in the slimy Rovian Smear politics of the Swiftboat liars and their protegey rather than run a clean campaign? Thought so.....

It's just you and the many others who live in a world of hypocrisy and denial. In your world, anyone who would disagree with you is engaged in slimy politics.

I guess you missed the entire point of my post; let’s try this again:

a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity b : a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market c : a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties

Re: Letter to John McCain

Truth Detector, you do realize that the Republican Party is anything but Conservative yes?

Hillary is more Conservative in one GIANT aspect as she'll likely start paying down the debt. When HILLARY is more Conservative then the GOP, your party has serious problems.

On Hillary; this is pure speculation on your part.

As to your definition of "Conservative", I presume based on this that your entire premise is that the current Republicans increased the debt and the size of Government therefore they are not conservative.

An interesting and very loose definition I am sure. But yes, I am aware that the current party is wandering off the reservation. The notion that the OTHER party will be more conservative is preposterous bordering on hysterical.

Possibly, but given her time with Bill who did pay down substantial amounts annually, it would seem likely.

As well as increasingly government intervention with private moral issues.

Because....

And why is that definition loose? Since when has American Conservatism ever favored above all other choices more debt and more government?

Your a fool, if you think the Democrats are going to win this time around. Especially while the massive infighting continues.

I didnt realize trying to run a campaign cleanly and actually based on issues instead of emotion was considered evil. If Huckabee were the nominee he wouldve done the same thing.

I guess you one of the ones who were angry when Ken Melman apologized for the use of the Southern Stragety. Heaven forbid a Republican actually tries to reach out to minority groups to erase the stereotype the Liberals have given the Republicans that they dont give a damm about them.

Yea good luck with that one. China will become democratic before that will happen.

I have had $250 on the outcome that a Democrat will NOT be in the White House since last October. However, thinking that the current infighting is going to prevent the Democrats from winning would make you a bigger fool than you think I am.

McCain is doing everything he can to sound like a Ross Perot. It is highly unlikely he can win while doing this. Yes I voted for Romney for good reason, he actually knows how to run a Government; unlike the current choices.

Like I said earlier, as much as I hate the thought of Socialists running the whole show, if McCain keeps talking **** about his own party, he can kiss my ***, I don’t care if it costs me $250; I would just as soon watch his candidacy wash down the toilet than vote for him. The last thing we need is a Republicrat.

I have a feeling a LOT of Americans on BOTH sides will be staying home this election. The choices truly suck.

Carry on.

Actually I agree with you that the choice for Republicans sucks.
However, right now...the Dems have two great candidates...

Not a good time to be a Republican....I understand your frustration.
