Dang it! The day before yesterday I came to San Francisco from Cloverdale on purpose to see the Olympic flame with my own. I brought my family there, I drove half a day and what? The ceremony was actually disrupted! Well not actually, not disrupted by protesters but cancelled by the very authorities! WTF!?
As I can see it, that was a deliberate act of a boycott of the Olympics in Beijing by Washington! There was no need of all those protesting guys, the idiot in the White House up and decided for us that WE boycott the Olympics! How could he have done such a thing!? San Francisco was crowded with thousands of spectators who came to witness the torch relay while Bush effectively prevented them from witnessing the historic moment! Fancy the female participant with the torch entered some store house and the whereabouts of the Olympic flame was unknown for hours! What a disgrace of the US! What a shame of Bush! And what about the vaunted democratic attitude of America? I say, democracy in America as such has become a mere nice word while nothing stands behind it! The US authorities have stopped being concerned about common Americans and their liberties. Washington only strains after totalitarian model of power - that's what I can see.

If I recall correctly, in the 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics , the People's Republic of China pressured Canada into forcing the Republic of China (Taiwan) to use a different name (Chinese Taipei) and even made them use a different flag. Thats not exactly keeping in the spirit of the games either. 65 nations boycotted the 1980 Olympics in Moscow because of the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan and in 1984 the Soviet Union and 14 Eastern Bloc nations boycotted the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. The reason for all the madness this time around is because of whats happening in Tibet. Personally I think its ridiculous, because the Olympics are supposed to bring everyone together peacefully, but the protesters obviously don't see it that way.Besides, I haven't heard anything about the United States boycotting the Beijing Olympics
