Umm.. where did I mention any of those practices? I simply said we should circumsize women in the same manner that we circumsize men and for the same reasons. You do realize, don't you, that the clitoris is like a little mini penis? And the clitoral hood is much like the foreskin of a penis? You were aware, right? Well, the same type of cleaning is required and the same types of infections can result with inproper cleaning. Those are your health reasons... the same as the mens. Because it's just too hard to clean them and they *might* get an infection.

Why do you bring up the extreme types of mutliation you did? Has absolutely nothing to do with what I was talking about.

Did you not read woman? The health related reasons for female circumcision(including the removal of the clitoral hood) are unsupported by DOCTORS. This means what you posted is pish-posh. As opposed to male circumcision, there are no health related reasons for the removal/splitting of the clitoral hood(Type I of female circumcision). Well, I guess that just means that the doctors don't consider infections and discomfort in women to be as important as it is to men. Both can get infections for the exact same reasons in extremely similar ways and places. Yet the docs only think the penis is important. Typical.

I see your point; it's valid to an extent, but then not really, because men have a hole in their penis whereas women don't have one in their clit, the female urethra being located elsewhere, lower.
Men constantly have pee dribbles (they don't wipe, you know) and other icky stuff like pre-cum oozing out of their penises.
That would make for an even grosser and less hygienic situation than the clit/ clit hood situation.

But other than that, yes, the organs are pretty similar; fetuses all start out with the same little bump, and it either becomes a clit or a penis.
A doctor would be a lying hypocrit if he/ she seriously recommended male circumcision for health and hygiene reasons only, but not female circumcision for the same reasons.
If a doctor is honest, he or she will admit that the reasons for male circumcision in America are not exclusively health and hygiene related, but also cultural and cosmetic and social, and therefore they cannot in good conscience recommend female circumcision or clit-hood removal for infant girls, although it would have the same minor-to-negligible health benefits as male circumcision does.
