I had dinner last night with a bunch of new mommies--4 of us have sons and all are circumsized. One of the women is from Holland, where they don't circumsize boys/men. She had her son circumsized because (1) her husband is and they didn't want their son looking different from dad and (2) she said it looks better.
The mirror image of your comments could be found in sub-Sahara Africa.

We removed the clitoral hood of our daughter, (1) because we wanted her to look like her mother (2) it looks better.

Maybe once people start understanding the difference between a parent/guardian consenting to a life saving operation as opposed to cosmetic surgery on a child, then maybe the complete OMISSION OF CONSENT will become clearer.

Yeah, maybe.

My mother had my ears pierced when I was 2 weeks old. It's a tradition in Mexico to pierce a little girl's ears within hours or days after she is born. (My mother is Mexican.) Do people think that having my ears pierced was a human rights violation?

What if there was a tradition to cut off your ears? Ears are useless and dirty.
Or a testicle. Men do not need two testicles to reproduce.
Or a finger. Who needs 10 fingers??

Ok...so you've discovered cultural relativism...as a prize you win a college liberal arts degree...would you like to make a real argument?

If you took your earrings out for a little while, your ears would heal. Eventually, there'd be no sign that they'd been pierced at all.

So it has nothing to do with the pain that a procedure inflicts on a baby? It's about whether you can reverse the procedure? I wonder how many men wish they had their foreskin back.

I'm curious to know if any man on here who is uncircumisized has (1) experienced any pain as a result of his foreskin and/or (2) had a circumcision as an adult.

I'm uncircumcised. I haven't had any problems because of it, except for a couple of girls who wouldn't touch it because it "looked strange". Certainly not enough trouble to convince me to have it removed.

(1) on the contrary, doesn't the foreskin "protects" the glans (which is much more sensitive)?

you're talking to me?

OK I try to say it differently

a pro-circumcision argument is that the foreskin is useless and that it's cleaner to remove it

but there are other parts of the body, such as the outer ear, which are not really necessary and which are sometimes difficult to perfectly clean. And no ones here has his outer ears cut off for that reason.

that shows that there is no real argument for circumcision, that is a tradition, like baptisms.

I have nothing against it, you do what you want with your pee pee, and even if people do it to their sons it's not that bad (that does not make a great difference), but I'd favor not doing it before the boy can say if he agrees or not

You didn't respond to my first question in that post of mine with respect to your comment on ear piercing.
