A few of McCain's gaffes

It must be mental (senile dementia), because John McCain appears to be even dumber than Bush:

John McCain called Purim the Jewish version of Halloween.

John McCain said repeatedly, over a period of 3 days, that Iran was training al Qaeda, before Joe Lieberman, who was traveling with him, whispered in his ear, and McCain finally corrected himself.

John McCain called himself a Liberal Republican. Well, at least this gaffe was an honest one.

John McCain could not answer the question whether condoms help prevent the spread of AIDS.

Without thinking, McCain uses the word "gook" to describe the Vietnamese.

Of course, there is the famous "Bomb Iran" song McCain sang.

And here is the famous "gates of hell" speech from John McCain.

John McCain repeatedly denied talking to John Kerry in 2004, and discussing the possibility of a VP spot on the Democratic ticket. He finally admitted talking to Kerry this year.

John McCain tells the world that Baghdad is just as safe to walk through as many American cities, while walking through Baghdad wearing body armor, protected by a platoon of Marines, not to mention several helicopter gunships which were overhead.

John McCain referred to Vladimir Putin as the President of Germany.

When asked in a recent debate whether he would sign into law the comprehensive reform bill he had been pushing hard for 3 years, John McCain replied that he would not
.

When asked how long he was willing to keep troops in Iraq, John McCain quipped "A million years is fine with me"
.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, John McCain says that he doesn't know much about economics, after being asked a question pertaining to economics. You know that has to be comforting, given our current economic climate.

John McCain cracks a joke about waterboarding his staffers
.

These are a few of McCain's gaffes. While some are pretty innocuous, others are pretty bad. And all of them show a pattern that McCain's health problems are more than just physical.

Folks, John McCain is clearly not fit for service.

Caine, tell us how McCain was going for humor when he admitted to meeting with Kerry? Called those people "gooks?" Mixed up al Qaeda's "involvement" with Iran? condoms and aids? Baghdad safe to walk thru? explain the joke about the comprehensive reform bill?

we're all ears...

Never suggested he was going for humor with this particular link. Can you show me where I specified this specific link as humor? Thanks..............

I suggest you read the link. Saying "You know I had a private conversation with Kerry" doesn't equal "I tried to be on his ticket as the VP."

Ive already discussed the gooks comment. Its something you wouldn't understand because you haven't fought a war and been involved in the culture that is the military during a time of war. Join the army, get deployed to Iraq, and see how many of your comrades DON'T refer to an Iraqi as "Hajji". Then get back to me......

He was trying to push his "abstinence" position, and admitted to not knowing much on the issue.

If thats how he felt, can't really see how someone can call this a "gaffe" if that is how he felt.

The context to this one is in one of the 26 pages of crap in the link, I'll look at it later and take a crack at trying to see what is so "gaffe"-ful about it.

Re: A few of McCain's gaffes

Yeah, McCain is showing lately that he might actually end up worse than GWB in his ability to handle anything like diplomacy or . . . speaking.

nope, I am obviously all ears. thanks for explaining yourself, bro.

the next time you respond to a whole serious of links, "quoted" all as one, and then type below it, "Apparently, Presidential candidates cannot have the same style of humor that political cartoonists would have huh?" ...I'll be able to make a more informed assessment of your commentary. you meant some, and not all of it. you leave it up to the reader, to read your mind or guess, about what you meant. it's unfortunate, that you mistake someone that questions your claims in a debate context for a "troll". apparently unsubstantiated puerile name calling is not beyond you. I'm just glad that my prompting has required you to explain what you mean. isn't that's what DP is for? you're welcome.

when did anyone ever accuse McCain of "trying to be on Kerry's ticket as VP?" saying "you know I had a private conversation with Kerry" years after once denying it was what the link said. how did McCain not lie?

non-argument. you want to know if war will turn me into a racist, too? it's true I've not been deployed, but several of my family members have. and I can honestly say they're all bigger than that. assuming or supposing my potential future racism does not erase McCain's present racism. sorry.

of course, that's the topic. the point of the thread.

illogical fallacy. McCain is not "people." the topic is the man, not people. McCain's screw ups are not evidence that "people screw up." they're evidence that McCain screws up.

no, actually he was admitting that he didn't remember what his position was.

I feel like I am as good looking as a movie star. I also feel like I deposited $40 million dollars in my bank account yesterday. mmmmmm, you know what else? I feel like I was asked to take Jimmy Page's place in a Led Zeppelin world tour this morning. That's all honestly how I feel.

the link is to a full transcript of an entire debate program, involving Ron Paul, McCain, Huckabee, and Romney. you don't have to read the entire link to see the pertinent comments! just search for "reform" or "bill".
Quote:
MS. HOOK: Senator McCain, let me just take the issue to you, because you obviously have been very involved in it. During this campaign, you, like your rivals, have been putting the first priority, heaviest emphasis, on border security. But your original immigration proposal back in 2006 was much broader and included a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants who are already here.

What I'm wondering is, and you seem to be downplaying that part, at this point, if your original proposal came to a vote in the Senate floor, would you vote for it?

SEN. MCCAIN: It won't. It won't. That's why we went through the debate.

MS. HOOK: I know, but what if it did?

SEN. MCCAIN: No, I would not, because we know what the situation is today. The people want the border secured first. And so to say that that would come to the floor of the Senate, it won't. We went through various amendments which prevented that ever, that proposal.
McCain admits that he wasted his time by proposing something unreasonable. so he's flip flopped on it. that's either good, or bad, depending on your point of view.

McCain would take office at 72 if elected, three years older than Reagan. There is a reason most people retire before age 65.

You're absolutely right, Chanda. Those over 65 years of age are seldom able to do jobs, like the presidency and others such as farming, that require both mental and physical ability. Of course, there are exceptions, but it is not reasonable to expect the ability to continue much beyond that age.
