No, didn't you get the memo, being a Libertarian means small government for people that you don't like, not small government for you

Right. Most libertarians think the government should at least be large enough to, say, oversee women's uteruses and regulate their bodily functions.
And that would require a rather large government indeed, certainly larger than the one we have now, even if the government had no other function than this.

I'm beginning to think that your right and that conservatives don't think abortion is murder they just have some kind of crazy pathology regarding vaginas.

Did you get that backwards? Big government for people they don't like? Otherwise I'm stumped on what the message is there.

I don't know anything about Bob Barr so I won't defend him except to say that not all libertarians got the memo on what it means to be a libertarian. Even those that did don't follow it 100%, the same way not all Republicans are 100% conservative and not all Democrats are 100% liberal. Sometimes you get libertarians who are 80% of the way there but they believe in public education, pre-emptive war or something else.

Most libertarians are for small government for everyone.

Most libertarians are pro-choice. The number of pro-life libertarians is growing, probably due to Ron Paul (who is not 100% libertarian), but still, most libertarians, and most members of the Libertarian Party, are pro-choice.

Libertarians aren't conservatives. They align themselves, most often, with the Republican Party because of the GOP's stance on wasteful spending and lower taxes. Most libertarians couldn't disagree more with Republicans on social issues (including any crazy pathologies they might have about women's vaginas).

I think that most conservatives take issue with abortion, however, based on either personal and/or religious beliefs that aborting a fetus is no different than murdering a newborn baby. To them, the rights of the mother over her own body take a backseat to the right of the unborn child.

Obviously, people will disagree on that point.

If Bob Barr throws his hat into the ring, he has my vote. Simple as that. If you are really Conservative, and not a donkey in an elephant suit, it should be as simple as that for you too.

Article is here.
Interesting, you have any info on him? I'm not terribly familiar with him

But also Dr. Mary Ruwart is seeking the LP nomination as well. Now, she wrote Healing Our World and I haven't read it. But I know many who have and they keep telling me I should read it (I'm very busy though).

Mary Ruwart, Libertarian for President | Get on board for Denver!

Not a lot of info there yet, but I guess it could be a starting point.

I disagree with you on this. Libertarians are as Conservative as you can get. They are further right on the spectrum than Republicans. Most Republicans are not real Conservatives.

How do the libertarians decide their candidate?

I think he usually voted with Newt, if I remember correctly. Newt was in my district before the Gerrymandering by Zig Zag Zell's Party, still I don't know all of Bob Barr's views.

Bob Barr was in that law suit with Ron Paul over the 213 to 213 vote during Clinton's war in Yugoslavia, when we heard the plaintive wails from the balcony to "vote no...vote no..." A little trivia, the 213 to 213 vote was before the bombing of the Chinese embassy.

I think Cynthia Tucker would have a heart attack if Barr ran and got elected. That in itself might be worth it.
