Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a mid-term election.

Monday, March 03, 2008

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Hillary Clinton inching ahead of Barack Obama nationally for the first time in three weeks. In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination nationally, Clinton now holds a statistically insignificant one-point lead over Obama, 45% to 44%. It’s the first lead of any kind enjoyed by Clinton since Obama won blowout victories in the Potomac Primaries on February 12 (see recent daily results). Ever since that time, expectations that Obama would win the nomination have grown dramatically. Despite this, Obama has yet to reach the 50% level of support nationwide at any time in the daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

Clinton’s modest rebound nationally corresponds to a similar pushback against Obamamania in both Ohio and Texas. She now holds a modest lead in the Buckeye State while the winner in Texas will be determined by turnout and late deciders. It remains to be seen whether this is a temporary slowing of Obama’s momentum or something more substantial. Rasmussen Markets data shows that Obama is favored to win Texas while Clinton is favored in Ohio. Rasmussen Markets data is updated continuously and will be the first to measure the impact of Tuesday’s results on prospects for Clinton and Obama.

Looking to the general election, John McCain has a slight lead over both Democrats. McCain now leads Obama 47% to 42% and Clinton 47% to 44%.

Re: McCain edges further ahead in polls against Obama and Clinton....

Doing my apparent job now, since you once again used POLLS, plural. (Also, I find it funny you made a new post about this instead of continuing your last thread that this could've easily gone on...you know, the thread where you demanded someone "prove" something, they did, and you never responded. Ahhh, lovely "debate").

Per Real Clear Politics

McCAIN VS OBAMA
LA Times/Bloomberg......McCain +2%
AP-Ipsos......Obama +10%
USA Today/Gallup ......McCain +1%
CBS News/NY Times......Obama +12%
Pew Research......Obama +7%
Research......Obama +6%
FOX News......Obama +4%
Rasmussen......McCain +5%

3 Have McCain leading, average lead is 2.6%. Lowest is 1, highest is 5
5 have Obama leading, average is 7.8%. Highest is 12, lowest is 4

McCAIN VS CLINTON
LA Times/Bloomberg......McCain +6%
AP-Ipsos......Clinton +5%
USA Today/Gallup......McCain +4%
CBS News/NY Times......Tie
Pew Research......Clinton +5%
Research 2000......Tie
FOX News......McCain +3%
Rasmussen......McCain +3%

4 have McCain leading, average lead is 4%, with the high being 6 and low 3
2 have Hillary leading, average of 5%, with 5 being for both.
2 have a statistical tie.

Now, as a note, only the rasmussen has changed since the last time Navy posted. The other polls will likely be updating sometime this week most likely adn we'll be able to see a clearer picture. HOWEVER...here's what we can learn from JUST Rasmussen.

McCain is up 2 extra % points over Obama compared to the last 4 day trend poll of Rasmussen.

HOWEVER.

He's dropped 1 point against Hillary Clinton in that time

So in the past 4 days you've seen a small bump of Hillary vs McCain, with a slightly larger small bump of Mccain over Obama.

Rush is also now telling Republicans in Ohio, Texas and other Super Tuesday 2 states to cross over and vote for Hillary... I like the strategy.

Re: McCain edges further ahead in polls against Obama and Clinton....

Yes, I've heard Rush doing this. His reasoning is not so much that he wants Clinton or Obama, but the fact that McCain seems to not want to target certain issues with Obama that Hillary IS targetting...and thus the longer the Democratic primaries go on, the more dirt they sling at each other and damage each other without the Republicans needing to do it...espicially since he doesn't think Mccain will

Hate to tell you Navy....but the latest CBS news/NY Times poll mirrors the AP but instead of Obama leading by 11 points its 12%. Even in the FOX news poll just released Obama leads McCain by 4%.....so your polls at this point in the game really mean nothing.....

You are citing Rasmussen again this week....must mean that you've flipped back from "Rasmussen is biased and only polls liberals" to Rasmussen is an incredibly unbiased poll...(must mean that they are citing something that you agree with).

Glad to hear that as an American you have such respect for the election process that you and your drug addict idols advocate manipulating the vote. Wow....thats real "American."...now go wave a flag.

Re: McCain edges further ahead in polls against Obama and Clinton....

In no way does it make it right...

But if there was a close race between two GOP candidates, one of which you'd much rather be running against, and both were damaging each other continually in it....do you not think the more extreme people on the left and even some moderates would not mind, and probably would be outspoken, about hoping for the GOP election to continue as long as possible and even perhaps suggesting people go vote for the one behind to cause this to happen (if of course the democrat ticket was locked up).

I'm not saying its right, but sadly I think this would be something both sides would do. Its a cheap, dirty political tactic...unfortunantly I think a good many in both parties have no problem with such things.

I agree 100%....but I would denounce anyone on the left that advocated going out and purposefully manipulating the election process. Personally I prefer a fair election, but obviously with some....that is too much to ask for....
