What instruments did Jane use to dilate the cervix? And what instrument did she use to insert into the uterus to scrape the lining? Did she use aseptic technique to minimize contamination by pathogens?
| If he thinks Jane was a person, there's no point wasting time arguing.
Jane was an organization- an underground collective- of female laypeople (nonmedical personnel) who performed over 12,000 illegal abortions safely and mostly for free during the late 60s and early 70s.
They never lost a patient or encountered a serious complication.
Most of the volunteers were students or housewives; many were women who had formerly recieved abortions from the Jane collective.
Abortion is a piece of cake.
I'd have another abortion without the slightest ambiguity or hesitation if I ever found myself pregnant again, and I'd feel relatively confident performing an abortion- even without training- if I had to. if abortion were illegal.
With training, shiiit. piece of cake.

| Re: Pro-Choice Not Pro-Abortion: The name is fictitious, but the college students, housewives and mothers who were the members of Abortion Counseling Service of the Chicago Women's Liberation Union, aka Jane, were actual persons, not merely fictitious characters of a play.
Here was the way the article was written: In 1971, Susan was 21, in a dead-end job and a dead-end relationship, and she had just discovered her IUD birth control had failed her.
Although she wanted children eventually, she knew it wasn't a good time to have a baby. So she called Jane in Hyde Park. Here the person with the name “Jane” was a person chosen as a representative of the group whose members were college students, housewives and mothers. The name “Jane” was fictitious, but the person it represents was real, and was chosen as a typical member for the writer to tell the story of how a typical desperate woman such as the 21 year old Susan would do to seek out a typical illegal abortionist such as “Jane” for underground abortion service.
I simply use the same modus operandi to ask Grannie some questions.

"Being addicted to smoking is a tragedy, but it's someone's choice". I don't think that smoking should be outlawed, even though there are few positive effects associated with it (the same can be argued for abortion) and in a perfect world no one would do it.
But it's the person's choice.

With training, shiiit. piece of cake. | CNN - Roe vs. Wade - 1998
Class-action suit it was, but Jane Roe was a psuedoname for the lead plaintiff Norma McCorvey.
