I find it remarkable that someone, anyone would actually believe that Republicans are far more responsible for the Civil Rights America enjoys today.

Considering that the Republican party is the party of white Christian, anti-abortion, anti-gay rights, anti-immigrant, anti-separation of church and state it is incredible to think all of the things I just listed that in the inverse are long-standing Democratic principles yet Republicans have a stronger pro-civil rights record?

I love the absurdity of the argument and how blind some people can be to the truth....I guess the real world is DENIAL....

Try a wider look at where these types of values are leading society. It's probably too much to ask, however.

Spare me the typical blame the entertainment industry rant. If you want to blame someone blame the parents. No matter what social conservatives think, the constitution has no part that says that the government is required to legislate morality. Morality is taught by the parents, not the government. Gay rights is a church state issue in my mind because there is no legit argument to not letting them marry or having the same rights as the rest of us do. It doesnt affect your personal rights and if you think it does you have insecurities that you have to deal with.

For liberals, not making moral judgments is the very essence of science. On that theory, Howard Stern should be curing cancer and inventing cold fusion any day now.

By openly admitting to being philanderers, draft dodgers, druggies, liars, weasels, and cowards, liberals avoid ever being hypocrites.

We live in an America in which soccer moms swoon over Bill Clinton, date Drew Peterson awaiting likely murder charges, and have Larry Flint as a cultural icon.

And yes, chevydriver, it does come down to the parents. Conservatives talk about family values, not big government.
It's the liberals who want to teach your kids about homosexuality in the second grade, hand out condoms in elementary school, make sure your 13 year old daughter gets to abort her baby without you finding out, and omit God from the pledge of Allegiance or any other reference to him.

Liberals have used their control of television, movies, glossy magazines, and newspapers to create a charming world in which women are enticed to behave like pigs, have sex without consequences, prance about naked and abort children.

Liberals hate society and want to bring it down to reinforce their sense of invincibility.

For conservatives making moral judgments is more important than science. And dictating to others what their morals should be is what they do.

And by promoting 'morality' and being discovered being liars, weasels, philanderers, criminals, and corruption-laden, conservatives show themselves to be hypocrites. And worse, by refusing to take responsibility for these behaviors when caught, they show themselves to be cowards.

And yet many do not practice what they preach, instead they practice the religion of hypocrisy.

It's the conservatives that advocate discrimination against gays, and see them, quite inaccurately, as being 'immoral', it is the conservatives who, even with evidence squarely against them, advocate for the idiotic system of 'abstinence only' sex education, it is conservatives care more about preventing abortions than doing anything to assist those babies when they are born, and it is conservatives that want to destroy the Constitution by eliminating the delineation between church and state, and making this country a Theocracy.

Conservatives have used their control to curb civil liberties, attack anyone who disagrees with the government and call them unpatriotic (trashing the First Amendment), and want to create a totally reactionary society where the only opinions allowed are theirs.

Conservatives hate society and want to bring it down to help reduce their insecurity.

Keep making your ridiculous overgeneralizations.

I would like to disagree with that. While the vast majority of politicians don't care about rights, occasionally you have people like LBJ who signed the civil rights act even though he knew it'd cost his party the south for years to come.
