Nuclear Power

I am watching the democratic presidential debate and I have a question for my democratic friends........Why are your candidates so against nuclear power and building nuclear power plants? You are always saying how good things are in Europe.........Well France has Nuclear Power and it works great........We have never had a nuclear fatality in the use of Nuclear Energy.....

Why are you so against it?

Anyone who opposes nuclear power is either a hysteric or is pandering to the hysterics.

It was my understanding that the people of Nevada didn't want that stuff there.

But just like the WIPP project in New Mexico, the good people of Nevada didn't object to all the money being spent there building the storage facility. Now that it looks like it might actually get used, they want to back out.
The NM project was deep, way below the water table, and was to be used for low level waste mostly. The federals should have known that if NM would back out of the low level waste deal at the last minute, NV would do the same thing for high level waste.

Recycle it to make more fuel......seems a shame that we have to stand in line behind the French for anything, but this is one area where they are much smarter that we Americans...

I don't base my vote on one issue. And if I did, it certainly wouldn't be nuclear power.

Re: Nuclear Power

Nuclear power is only an answer to our electrical energy needs. Except for charging a few batteries in cars, it does nothing to help with our transportation fuel needs.

The really good thing about nuclear for electricity instead of coal, is that it is green. No emissions. If ALL the costs were analyzed, I suspect that nuclear is cheaper in the long run compared to coal.

But cheaper yet is conservation, and only Obama mentioned that in the debate. Edwards has an irrational fear of nuclear and coal as well. I guess he wants us to freeze in the dark.
