If someone in our government wore any of the above shirts then it should be addressed.

In this specific scenario with Cheney nothing should occur. Cheney has no right to ask the owner to take down the flag. The deal with Sharpton and the rest is just media hype for ratings.

And I guess these guys must not have gotten the message either:












If you want to argue that the confederate flag is frequently used by some groups as a symbol of racism/hatred, that's fine. But to argue that there's no other legitimate meaning or that all people who choose to wear it share those same sentiments is ridiculous.

Un fracking believable. As if I actually needed to re-rationalize as to why the confederate flag had anything at all to do with racism and why people find the flag representative of racism.
For starters just who were the confederates? A bunch of renegades so fed up with the federal government that they broke away? Or a bunch of racists segregationists that broke away from the federal government because they insisted on retaining slavery to work on their plantations because they themselves refused to modernize via industrialization or pay salaries to workers?

What does this flag mean to you or rather what do you relate this flag to?

The Nazi socialist workers of Germany fighting for the rights of the suppressed Germans after being handed the Treaty of Versailles? Or do you think of the nazi scum whom thought themselves as superior and direct creations of God himself thus all other races and ethnicities need to bow before them - intent on world domination?

I couldn't care less about what Sharpton says, as stated before indeed, the man is a media whore. The country club has their right to hang up whatever symbol or postings they wish. But to deny that the confederate flag has a particularly sensitive meaning to non-white america is at best ignorant. American's are united under this flag, Old Glory.


The confederate flag to many of us, and it should to all of us, represents the WORST of America - a divided nation fighting itself over slavery and money.


As a figure head of the United States federal government Cheney should denounce that flag. That flag is representative of a foreign nation. Where are all our illegal immigrant fanatics here who scream that no flag other than the United states flag should be flown?

What flag flew over the last states to have legal slavery?
And the KKK was as active in the Midwest as it was in the South.
And desegregation was fought against just as hard in the north and elsewhere as in the South.

I'm a "Civil War buff" and it's funny, because if that flag has to be a "symbol" of anything, that flag is really only a symbol of dissent.
