Mukasey Won’t Say Waterboarding Is Torture But....
In 1947, the United States was clear about waterboarding, and sentenced a Japanese officer to 15 years hard labor for doing just that. At that time, the US defined waterboarding as torture, and a war crime. Mukasey's doubts that waterboarding is a war crime, as the US defined it after WWII, have even raised the eyebrows of Republicans in Congress.
Simply put, if we are to waterboard prisoners, then we have no leg to stand on when the enemy begins waterboarding our own soldiers. Article is here. |

Re: Mukasey Won’t Say Waterboarding Is Torture But....
I can't believe that this is just now being brought up on this forum. Thanks Dana. And to think that people were upset about the definition of "is". If this freakin' idiot is confirmed the justice department will continue to be a joke. He doesn't know if waterboarding is torture? It would seem to me that the AG should know this before becoming the top law enforcement official. What a fraud of a man!
