Same argument I hear folks make about health care to others.
Employer vs Entitlement program
HUGE DIFFERENCE

I think you can see the difference, but your disdain for NP has twisted the way you are addressing things

That is your opinion about who deserves Govt handouts. I have a different opinion.

My point is that *I* didn't agree that Navy "Pride" should get Govt freebies. Why should *I* have to pay for his freebies any more than you should have to pay for some child's that you don't agree with?

I see the difference just fine. It is just a difference of opinion as to who should get Govt assistance. See post above. I don't have any problem with armed military guys getting subsidized health care. But *I* didn't agree to pay it.

If you followed along, you would know that I never have been a huge Bill Clinton fan. He was not my choice for the Democratic nomination, but he did win me over and overall I thought he was a decent President....definitely leagues above the current clown we have.

However, I don't think you would have to raise taxes a great deal to cover universal health care. I think you could start with veterans and kids and gradually expand it to cover everyone if you can make the program work.
The reality is, under our current system, insurance companies and HMO's are making billions of dollars in profits...get THAT under control and I think you would find that universal health care is not an unrealistic goal.
Did you watch 20/20 a week ago.It was about universal health care in Canada, France, and Cuba........Did you know that in Canada pets have better health care then their owners..........Did you know that when people have a major illness the sometime have to wait up to 6 months for surgery and die before they get the surgery...........Did you know that Canadians come here for major surgery..........Did you know since everything is free there is no incentive for research or to improve equipment.......Did you know that people go to the doctor for the slightest illness....Something we would never consider doing..............

Did you know Life expectancy is longer in Canada, and its infant mortality rate is lower than that of the U.S.?

Did you know he World Health Organization's ratings of health care system performance among 191 member nations, published in 2000, ranked Canada 30th and the U.S. 37th, and the overall health of Canadians 35th to the American 72nd.

Did you know n Canada, the United States is used as a model and as a warning against increasing private sector involvement in health care.
