The front group, SBVT, was fake. The members claimed to have served with Kerry, but only Steve Gardner actually did, and even he was not present to witness any of the events that the SBVT claimed to have firsthand knowledge of.

So, this fake group, funded by GOP donors with Bush/Rove ties, created an entirely fictional account to discredit a war hero, and this is acceptable to you?

She said she "helped start and support" them. She didn't say in what capacity she helped them; that's a very vague statement, and not nearly as incriminating as the right-wing blogosphere is reporting. In a search I did, Fox News and Free Republic headlines said "Hillary co-founded MM." See the exaggeration?

I think you're reaching. She claimed she helped start and support these orgs. Co-founding may be a bit of an embellishment, I seriously doubt her support was simply a donation.

She laid out the reasons for founding groups like MMFA; using the "vast right-wing" again. She seemed to be pondering why it took the left so long to do it. This would make her, in a way, the visionary; the leader of the movement.

I could care less about all this. Increasing amounts of smear-tactics and mis-representations of your opponent's views only happens when you yourself have given up on your message.

Unfortunately, there's more than enough of it that to go around on both sides of the aisle.

How can I be "reaching" when I said, basically, we don't know what she meant? I just know that she didn't co-found MMFA as Fox News said. I'm not a Hillary fan, so I'm not defending her; I would just like to get to the truth. So, what is the basis for your doubt?

I find MMFA to be a very reliable source because it provides the transcript and usually a video clip for documentation. Fox News John Gibson describes MMFA as an "online slime machine." Brent Bozell has a similar, but conservative, website: Accuracy In Media - For Fairness, Accuracy and Balance in News Reporting. Does John Gibson think Bozell's site is an online slime machine too?

I do, because biased media undermine democracy. The fact that so many people believed, and some still do, that Iraq was involved in 9/11 is a case in point.
