They want to win as do the troops there and that is beginning to happen much to the sorrow of the democrats..........

My biggest problem is giving the control of our military and finances to a foreign nation that continues to be a failure.

The problem here is the Iraqi government knows they have control and can do pretty much anything they want without being reprimanded for their failures because they know the US will never leave Iraq without it first taking control. Because of the incompetence US leadership post invasion Iraq has this giant US tit to suck on and Iraq has the choice of when to stop sucking without consequence from the US.

Your right I am mistaken. It's not the same, we had a far better chance securing Iraq in 2003 then we do now in 2007.

Insurgent attacks in Iraq are 5 times higher now then they were in 2003. Iraq was a peaceful nation in 2003 if you compare it to 2007.

We're helping to rebuild Iraq, where the dictator built palaces for himself, instead of hospitals and schools. And we will stand with the new leaders of Iraq as they establish a government of, by, and for the Iraqi people. The transition from dictatorship to democracy will take time, but it is worth every effort. Our coalition will stay until our work is done. Then we will leave, and we will leave behind a free Iraq.

Bush on Iraq: Then and Now

The goals of our coalition are clear and limited. We will end a brutal regime, whose aggression and weapons of mass destruction make it a unique threat to the world. Coalition forces will help maintain law and order, so that Iraqis can live in security. We will respect your great religious traditions, whose principles of equality and compassion are essential to Iraq’s future. We will help you build a peaceful and representative government that protects the rights of all citizens. And then our military forces will leave. Iraq will go forward as a unified, independent and sovereign nation that has regained a respected place in the world.

President George W. Bush, message to the Iraqi people, April 10, 2003

It's common knowledge that the Dems took over the Congress largely because of public dissatisfaction with how poorly the war is going. It's also widely believed that that same dissatisfaction will help the Dems again in 2008.

If you think that politicians from either party put their country before themselves, you're being naive.
