WTF are you blathering about? The indiginous people to North America were constantly on the brink of starvation, constantly at war with one another, and in many cases even resorted to the cannabilization of other tribes due to scarce resources and their lack of subsistence agriculture.

Lack of subsistence agriculture? The mississippi tribes had a huge farming traditions. The Algonquins were farming before the pilgrims showed up. Parts of North America independently developed their own agricultural systems based on local crops. I could give you ample sources, if you need it, that North America had its own farming traditions.

Also, please give me some sort of proof that cannibalism was even somewhat common before columbus. That seems somewhat suspicous, playing into the "savage" stereotypes.

Both were primarily hunter/gatherers and Nomadic their agricultural capacity was primitive and was not capable of sustaining permanent settlements.

Which ones had permanent self sustaining settlements that survived till the Europeans arrived in North America?

It comes from European primary sources as there are no Native American primary sources because they lacked a written language.

Im agreeing with you that they perhaps didnt have much concept of ownership. So why are you telling me about their wars and food problems? Where is the relevance? Or are you telling us that its ok for the Europeans to take over because they were often fighting nomads?

Plus as I said, they may not have had much concept of ownership, but we certainly did.

Here's information on farming in the tidewater area, specifically the algonquins. For the technology level, it was fairly advanced.

Which ones had permanent self-sustaining settlements that lasted till the Europeans came? Not many. A smallpox plague came up from spanish settlements in Latin America and wiped out most of the Mississippi area before Europeans came. It's hard to have a farming society when most of your civilization is dead. For more information, I reccomend the chapter about it in "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond.

Also, Titus, you really can't trust European sources on Native behavior. Many times they would make up extravagent behavior to justify conquering the natives. It just isn't credible. Especially if it's by a missionary.
