I've never liked sports or competitive games. I don't find them fun. Generally I find them boring. I have a hard time motivating myself to become impassioned about the victories and lossess of pieces of plastic. I never know what's going on in sports.

But politics...

THERE is a great game. Politics is the greatest form of competition known to man. It's ideology, it's rhetoric, it's justice, it's villany, it's everything. It's the greatest drama, and anyone can be apart of it.

While sports and games have clearly defined rules the methodology of politics is so labryinthian, and so subject to manipulation by the process itself, that developing tactics and strategies becomes a unique and compelling challenge.

But that's why i like it.

Why does everyone else like it?

I don't like it, because politics has real world consequences, and should not ever be considered a game. As soon as people begin to think mor ein terms of who can win the game of politics, everyone has lost.

That's what policy debate is for.

you think policy debate exists in a vacum? anytime anyone anywhere discusses issues it's politics. politics don't just go on inside the beltway.

Policy debate actually is a game. It doesn't even matter which side you're on, you just make arguments that sound convincing. You're not actually trying to get a policy implemented.

Not true, I am on many other forums such as computer, karate, auto, tires, electric, sking and many more where politics is the furtherst thing on anyones mind.
