| Re: Democrats cut 'John Doe' provision I've been torn on this, but I've come down on one side of it. Although I see that allowing reporting to be consequence free, regardless of merit would make it rough on arabs in general, as I see it, the dumb hicks in this country vastly outnumber the arabs, and as a product of which the arabs are going to be mistreated and disenfranchised regardless of whether or not the John Doe provision is made law, and thus the marginal cost of said law is relatively low. Along with this, we know that there will be dickhead judges and John Edwards-esque attorneys who would create a significant disincentive to report suspicious activity if there is no restriction and legal precedent of winning one of these cases is set. So as I see it, the marginal cost of this law is significantly less than the marginal cost of not having this law.
