Tell me something BP. Why do you hate your fellow Muslims so much?
Is it because its just what you've been taught?
Can you show in the Koran where it says you should hate them?
(yeah I know you cant)

Re: Is the current surge working?

"jaguar" is not what she/he appears. Whatever game this individual is playing, he/she wasn't smart enough to pull it off. She/he appears to be pretending to be a Muslim Sunni at times and as a sophomoric anti-American critic the next. However,

1) He/she claims to have never heard of the "72" virgins for martyrs. Any Muslim with a child's education would know about the significance of the 72. The Shia's views towards the Sunni became set in concrete about 40 years after Muhammed's death. The soldiers of Caliph Yazid (the second caliph) killed Ali's son Husayn along with "72" of his companions. That number has since symbolized martyrdom. Until the last few years, this sort of cultish martyrdom was a Khomeini prescription and therefore a Shia phenomenon tied to the battle of Karbala, Iraq (Husayn's death). It was used against Saddam Hussein's forces in the Iran/Iraq war. Hezbollah used it in Lebanon against the Israeli army. But this is no longer just a cult of the Shia. This has changed, which brings us to item number 2.....

2) This "jaguar" character claims to have seen "zero attacks on Iraqi civilians." This is either a rediclous lie or a very sad blindness. The Sunni have historically frowned on the Shhia's sense of martyrdom, but have wound up embracing an especially grim version of it in the form of suicide bombing. Saudi Wahhabism over the decades has resulted in a following who embraces an extreme vision of the Khomeini martyrdom. During the Khomeini period, the Sunni put the Shia down in Pakistan to ensure they would not be a threat to the Sunni government. The Tali-Ban in Afghanistan was encouraged to maintain the Sunni extremist base. In Iraq, Saddam Hussein continued to slaughter Shia's to warn against an uprising and Radicals from Jorda and Syria began a grass root of Sunni Radicalsim in places like Fallujah. In Lebanon, the Syrian government ensured a Sunni fist would hold. But what has happened in the Middle East since 2001? The Talio-Ban no longer maintains the Radical base of Sunniism. Lebanon was democratically given to the Shia. Iraq was democratically given to the Shia. All those Sunni Radicals and extremists that were already a part of the Al-Anbar Province ignited. The Sunni boycotted the elections for various reasons. Sistani knew that the Shia had the numbers and he encouraged the Shia to come out and vote....and win. The Sunni response was terror. In 2005, suicide bombings continued to be aimed at Shias for the most part, killing policemen, construction workers, clerics, community leaders, government officials, pilgrims, and men, women, and children at work, at play, at prayer, and in markets, mosques, and hospitals. Zarqawi publicly encouraged and demanded the deaths of Shias wherever they coulf be found. Most notable of these countless attacks on Shia civilians was the attack by Raed and the Sunni response to it. He detonated himself next to a government building and killed 125 Shias and wounded another 150. The government building was next to a busy open market and he killed many women and children aside form the Shia recruits wanting to join the Iraq Security Forces. Raed was given a three day wake in Jordan and of the counless sould who visited, they all celebrated his martyrdom. The murdered Shia drew no sympathy at the wake. For Raed to be a mrtyr (which is what Jordanian, Saudi, and Syrian newspapers described him as - all Sunni), those murdered Shia by defination must have been infidels whose murders were justified and accepted as devine. Of course, this celebration sparked off some Shia anger and the Jordanian embassy in Iraq was attacked by a mob. This Sunni/Shia rivalry was and is exactly what Al-Qued wants. Which brings us to number three....

3) This "jaguar" individual claims only one way to spell "Al-Qaeda." However, the fact is that Al-Qaeda's name can also be transliterated as al-Qaida, al-Qa'ida, el-Qaida, al Qaeda and in the Western world, al-Queda is popular. Even in the Middle East, we see different nations spelling it differently. Al-Queda has been seen in print in American, British, French and Italian papers.

These three things are pretty significant and certainly any Muslim would be familiar to what woud be common sense to any Muslim. The great divide within Islam and the current struggle politically, theologically, and militarily throughout the region would also be something that is common sense to any Muslim. And in his/her recent post, he/she behaves in a manner that is either Radical Sunni (without the knowledge of a Sunni) or an ignorant critic (without the knowledge of the Middle East).

Whatever the case, Jaguar b. p.....you are a fake.

An excellent point. And according to Al-Qaed, he/she isn't devout enough for their future Middle East.

By the way, you finish "The Shia Revival?" I just finished it recently and am reading "The Trouble With Islam" by Irshad Manji.

Yep, finished it just a bit ago. Very enlightening. "The Trouble With Islam" is on my list, but will have to wait a bit. Let me know what you think of it. I just started "The Al Qaeda Reader" by Raymond Ibrahim. Read several lengthy excerpts from it a while back, but had delayed buying it until I finished a couple of other books. So little time, so many books!
