The Waning of the GOP

Iraq is lost, and the GOP is going down the toilet. In fact, according to the writer, the GOP may not survive. Damn, who is the terrorist loving Liberal who penned this crap? None other than William F. Buckley Jr., and you know what? He is not a Liberal but a Conservative, a true rarity these days.

Hey Republicans - Say hello to your mascot, brought to you courtesy of the Bush administration.

Maybe after your party is dead and buried, it will one day resurrect itself, and have a real elephant for a mascot once again. But for right now, your party is toast on a stick, and rightfully so. Conservative, my a$$. The GOP is the worst cancer America ever had. I just hope they don't end up taking America down with them in the process.

Article is here.

Re: The Waning of the GOP

I knew the GOP was going to implode. They had become to obsessed with power and had grown very arrogant. Arrogance, is always the first step to downfall.

I mean, when you start talking about building a permanent Republican majority, as if there would ever be one, you know that the arrogance is so out of control, it's only a matter of time before the repubs would not be able sustain themselves under their own rhetoric and would fall.

As we say in the south:

Poor things

I prefer a porcupine. Cute and non-aggressive but don't dare try to step on us.

I used to think that no one could do a worse job running the Government than the Republicans did...until the Democrats got elected.

Two sides of the same coin ..throw them all out and lets bring back the Bull Moose Party.

It is the motto of a libertarian side movement - The Free State Project.

Re: The Waning of the GOP

sounds more like what happened to the Dems when the reps took over 1 branch of government, than two....
I respect Buckley
I think he is trying to be a catalyst rather than a fortune teller

Buckley saw the writing on the wall years ago. I would like to see him in the middle of the debate on which way the GOP should rebuild. ALL of his input would be very positive.

Meh, two years ago people were writing the same thing about the Democratic Party. Political power ebbs and flows depending on the current events of the day. While the GOP's prospects for 2008 look more bleak with each passing month, I wouldn't be so eager to consign them to the dustbin of history just yet.
