These statements speak for themselves. Yes, what Imus said was over the line, and his firing is a good thing. Now how about we go after the others who have done the same thing? After all, we are not hypocrites, are we?

1)
“Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?” - Rush Limbaugh, host of a radio program syndicated on nearly 600 radio stations nationwide
2)
“Many, many, many of the poor in New Orleans are in that condition. They weren’t going to leave no matter what you did. They were drug-addicted. They weren’t going to get turned off from their source. They were thugs, whatever.” - Bill O’Reilly, host of a radio program syndicated on over 400 radio stations nationwide
3)
hag, this hack, this brisket maker has the audacity to say that we should be having a dialogue with the Hitler of our time — coming from that hag who happens to be Jewish is a triple disgrace.” - Michael Savage (on former Secretary of State Madeline Albright), host of a radio program syndicated on 400 radio stations nationwide
4)
“She looks like a ghetto slut. It’s just — it’s hideous. No, it’s not braided. It just flies away from her head in every conceivable direction. It looks like an explosion in a Brillo pad factory. It’s just hideous.” - Neil Boortz (on U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney), host of a radio program syndicated on over 300 radio stations nationwide
5)
“I didn’t think I could hate [Hurricane Katrina] victims faster than the 9/11 victims.” - Glenn Beck, host of a CNN Headline News television program and a radio program syndicated on over 250 radio stations nationwide

Let me see if I have this right.....

These staements are fireable statements but somehow it is not fireable for Black conservatives to be called "Aunt Jemima" or "Uncle Tom"???

Or how about....

A local paper wrote an article about a bunch of different polititians (I forget exactly what it was for) and when it listed a black conservative as being "black" they placed an (*) after his name...as if he wasn't black enough.

There was no (*) after the black liberal....just the black conservative.

Or.....

What should happen to the talk show hosts who made insulting/racist comments about the Duke rape case accused? Ironic that THEY were the real victims here.

There are plenty of examples of racist comments out there and alot of it comes from the left.

Yes, what Imus said was over the line....

No, his comment was nothing, and certainly not worth firing him over.
Hear his comment in context:

Notice how Imus’s guest, Sid Rosenberg, did not receive any of the hysteria, even though in the linked simulcast Sid made the original “Ho” comment that Imus built on?

I've posted this else where, but it applies here also.

BS - There is no other context than it being a rascist statement when Imus uttered the words "nappy headed hoes" to describe the Rutgers women's basketball team. It WAS rascist as hell. It WAS over the line..... WAY over the line. He should have been fired, he was fired, and that WAS the appropriate response. America doesn't need people like Imus spamming the air waves with crap like that.

I don't have a subscription to Vibe Magazine just a few issues with Whitlock on them. Point is his clear hypocrisy. He has no problem talking smack about rappers and how black people hate themselves on some news network while at the same time getting a paycheck from people who have a magazine that promotes gangsta rappers and southern krunk rappers who are by the standards of rap have some of the dirtiest lyrics around.

Hmm, usually when a biased media employees someone like Jason Whitlock we use terms like "bi-partisan", "objective" and "fair" to describe the relationship.

Say Rush Limbaugh employed a raging liberal leftist: does being employed be Mr. Limbaugh make that raging liberal leftist a hypocrite? Of course not (The raging liberal leftist is a hypocrite all on his own;) )

So long as Jason Whitlock is not personally doing what he is speaking against, he is not a hypocrite.

Now then, you don't need a subscription to access Jason Whitlock's material, so surly if you know of or can find a point of hypocrisy you can do so out of one of his articles here.

IMHO, Don Imus was fired because what he said became a public circus and his sponsors bailed. Don Imus has said worse without a problem. I also believe he will be back on the air, possibly with the same sponsors, before long.

Fortunately, demagogues like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton don't need sponsors. Air America learned, I think, that they did need sponsors.

Hmmm so you don't believe it's hypocritical for him to work for a magazine that promotes the very kind of music and people he's so opposed to? Give me a ****ing break. When you condemn a certain group of people because they are "destroying the black community" but have no problem with accepting a paycheck from the people who enable that group of people and the "destruction" that they cause, thats called hypocrisy. Anyway you cut it.

Ha ha ha! Well it's certainly much funnier than Nappy Headed Hos.

So are we to think Limbaugh meant "There for, all criminals are black" or "All Criminals resemble Jesse Jackson's facial expressions and lack of personal hygiene, despite Jesse's Black Skin and despite all other criminals skin color. They always tend to have that stupid mustache and glazed over eyes.".

I don't find any offensive racism here.

2)

How is this racist? At least the first one mentions someone whose black. Oh, I get it, we're all reading this as racist because only tr00 nigz shoot up herion and smoke kronic blunts and have forties of old milwaukee and all deez mugs be in New Orleans, Nahmean? Yeuh. You have to think like a racist in order to see that non racist statement as racist. Maybe the statement is just as offensive when we leave race out if it and it should have been a fireable offense? Truth hurts.

Racially Charged but not offensive, derogatory or hate filled.

4)

HAHAHA. Oh if some Wannabe Self Proclaimed Beaner like Carlos Mencia that made this joke, not only could he say beaner but everyone would laugh. Except me because I can't stand that Half German Non Mexican jerk. But hey, Neil Boortz said it. Pure hilarity! This is the only comment so far that has resembled Imus's comments.

5)

Just plain stupid and nonsensical.

All in all. None of these people should get fired. It's not a "good thing" to do to people whose only offense is expressing what they thought. America shouldn't be the place where we punnish people for expressing what they feel and think. This ain't Oceania and we shouldn't have Thought Police who are powerful enough to get people fired from their commentary jobs or anything like that.

Tolerance has become so Intolerant of other peoples comments.

Hmmm so you don't believe it's hypocritical for him to work for a magazine that promotes the very kind of music and people he's so opposed to?

No, I don't.

I think it's a sound career move to get his name known.

Apparently it worked

First off, Imus was fired because there was an uproar over his comments that made his advertisers squeamish. That's the way media works in a free economy, it's not tit for tat.

Now to the examples.

1) Not really a fan of Rush, but what's the problem here? I think most frat boys who commit rape on a U.S. college campus look like Fred Durst, and I've said so many times. If I had a radio program, I'm sure I would have said it on air because I truly hate frat boys and Fred Durst. That's my personal opinion.

2) So were many of the poor in New Orleans not drug addicts? I've lived in many major metropolitan cities in the U.S. and I have to tell you that poverty and drug addiction have gone hand in hand in many cases. Not all by a long shot, but many. He's a commentator paid to express his views, that's his view.

3) Michael Savage is an idiot. In fact he's a knuckle dragging, simplistic demagogue of an idiot with two firing neurons in his head. But, he's a commentator paid to express his view and that's his view. If I had a talk show I would call him a knuckle dragging, simplistic demagogue with two firing neurons in his head. Tell me, would you have quoted him if he called Ann Coulter an emaciated skeleton with a prominent Adam's Apple spouting off quick and easy sound bites against anyone she disagrees with?

4) I have no idea who Neil Boortz is. I also know that if I was paid to express my comments, my views on the personal appearance of Lindsay Lohan, Brittany Spears or many others wouldn't be much nicer.

5) Again, I don't know Glenn Beck. He sounds like a jackass, but I guarantee he's paid well to express opinions that make him sound like a jackass. See it causes people like you to post a quote from him and people like me to think I don't know who that is, I should google him. Suddenly his site is being googled a lot, arbitrary Arbitron, or Nielsen, ratings go up and his advertising revenue increases.

Tom Leykis didn't make your list and he's a putz of even a lower order than Michael Savage and one I would heartily cheer to his firing with a most expensive champagne. However these people are paid to express an opinion. We might not like it, but if there is a market for it, and it doesn't cross an First Amendment boundaries (that area admittedly vague and constantly in flux) what is the problem? If we don't like them, we don't listen. If they offend us we are free to contact their managers and advertisers. If advertisers feel the cons outweigh the pros they rescind their spending which results in these personalities being fired. If you don't want to be a hypocrite, then voice your disapproval in the many avenues available to you.

That's a free market. That's the beauty of the First Amendment which will always be first and for very good reason.

When it is the truth it is not racism.
