| What’s your vision of business perspective in Georgia? Judging by Georgian media’s reports most of my co-brothers is returning to Georgia from Israel. But I’m distracted with doubts if it is worthwhile investing the money in so instable economy of Georgia.
There is no secret that Georgian business remains to be very insecure. It is worth to remember about growing political instability, corruption, shady links with Chechen terrorists and unsettled status of unrecognized territories of Georgia. I can understand current Georgian president, M. Saakashvili, who has fallen into disenchantment with his overseas sponsors and now looks to for large-handedness of Jewish Diaspora and for help of their Israeli fellows. He has some grounds for such hopes. The matter is that present republic of Georgia owes to our investments the high rate of its economic growth (10%!).
But I cannot understand my Jewish partners who have decided to continue developing their business in Georgia after the decision of its leadership to enter into the NATO. I think there is no doubt for them that Georgian membership in the Alliance calls for active participation in US peacekeeping operations all over the world and for the speediest deployment of US radar on the territory of this republic.
All that step up the risk of Islamic terrorist attacks against the country. Thus, taking into account that most part of my Israeli fellows’ money is invested in Georgian realty and tourist business, Jewish businessmen should think about reducing their investment projects there or minimizing their risks, connected with the threat of possible terrorist acts, which will certainly be directed against pro-American Georgia and Islamists’ long-standing enemy – Israel… What’s your vision of business perspective in Georgia? |
