Iraq Plans Inquiry Into Hussein Execution

Sadly the relationship between the Bush government and the so-called Iraqi "UNITY" Government has again been exposed as totally bogus and botched like almost everything else the Bushies have done in Iraq.

How crazy, sick, pathetic and awful is it that because of the insane way Saddam was rushed into his execution and the even more screwed up way that the actual execution was handled that we, the USA and our propped up Iraqi "UNITY" government behaved during the execution that they have actually fanned even more sectarian hate between Sunnis and Shiites?

Saddam Hussein, the notorious BUTCHER of BAGHDAD has been turned into a martyr and Sunni hero somehow, someway because of the outrageously messed up way Saddam was executed.

How is that supporters of the most violent Iraqi alive today, Moktada al-Sadr were allowed to participate in the execution and were allowed to taunt and chant "Moktada" right before Saddam was killed?

Since everyone has now seen the video of what happened it is sadly easy to see how this spectacle inflames more civil strife in Iraq.

BAGHDAD, Jan. 2 — With angry demonstrations spreading across Iraq’s Sunni Arab heartland, the country’s Shiite-led government said today that it had ordered an investigation into the disorderly scenes at the execution of Saddam Hussein, who was mocked and taunted by Shiite witnesses and guards as he stood on the gallows.

Iraqi officials said a three-member committee of the Interior Ministry would investigate scenes that have raised outrage among Mr. Hussein’s Sunni Arab loyalists and widespread consternation elsewhere as video recordings of the execution have been broadcast around the world.

The officials said the government wanted to know how some of those present at the hanging had been allowed to use cellphone cameras to record grainy images of Mr. Hussein as he endured the mockery from a group standing in front of the gallows. But the investigation would also ask why the hanging had been allowed to descend into scenes that some Sunni critics have described as a sectarian lynching, the officials said.

I am just curious for those that are bitching about this being a NYT story, what in the story SPECIFICALLY are you guys saying they are lying about?

FACT: There was a camera phone that recorded the executtion that should not have been there.

FACT: There was heckling of Saddam, something that was not supposed to happen according to the Iraqi government.

These are facts people. UNDENIABLE. So what in the NYT story is incorrect?

Are you actually saying that the NY Times story is a lie? That the Iraqi government is NOT investigating what happened at Saddam's execution? Are you actually saying that the facts as seen on the video are a lie?

Or...as usual...will you simply admit that you've not read the story or watched the execution video and therefore your post is just a made up jab at me and the NY Times?

Aren't you the guy who prefers vigilantism versus court sanctioned justice?

Aren't you the guy who preferred to personally shoot Saddam in the head without a trial?

Aren't you the guy who spits on the law and instead argues for the right to kill someone without a trial?

And you're now condemning the NY Times? I'd condemn you a million times before I would ever consider your opinion over the reporting of the news as done by the NY Times. I don't believe I've ever read even an editorial or OP-ED piece in the NY Times that advocates murder the way you've done repeatedly in this Forum.
