Stay on topic - You're the one talking about the "new direction" the Dems will take us, and how you voted for them because of it.

Quote:
The new direction begins with holding the Iraqi politicians' feet to the fire, notifying them that our deployment is not open ended..... that has begun and it's long overdue.
As fas as I can tell, this is the total sum of what you call the Dem's "new direction" -- and it doesnt have anything to do with the Dems.

Did you have anything else, or was that it?

Wow.. someone with some... common sense, not mention BALLS. Finally a politician willing to sacrifice his career for what’s rights rather than sacrifice troops to prop it up. Like say… the Republicans.
Since the US Military is purely voluntary now; reinstating the draft is not possible.

Ah....no, that's not what I said. Look back. I said of course I wouldn't vote for the same idiots that made the mess...and I stand by it. It's pretty simple, really. If you vote for one party (either one, pick your flavor) and you give them four years to accomplish a task that they assure you will take "months, not years" and they fail to accomplish that task, why would you vote for them again? I'm willing to give the Democrats a chance to make a change....that's what they campaigned on, and I based my vote on knowing that the Republicans would give me more of the same failed policy, and the Democrats would change the direction. When you're going down fast, even leveling off is preferable.

It most certainly does have everything to do with the Dems.....do you seriously expect me to believe that Bush would have fired Rummy and started looking for somebody to tell him how to get out of the mess if the Dems hadn't won the election? Not only that, you expect me to have patience with the failed Bush policies for years, but you expect the Dems to fix the result of those failed policies before they even take power? How about giving them 4 years, too?

It's a start, which is more than you have come up with. Care to put your ideas out there? There's an old saying....."Any jacka** can kick a barn down."

You said:
-I support a new direction, a change in the failed policy of the administration
-And again, you continue to misrepresent what the Democrats ran on....they ran on a new direction
-Staying with a new playbook can change that.
-Mismanagement, incompetence and total lack of planning.

You're the one saying they ran on a "new direction" for the war.
In order to have done that, they must have laid that "new direction" out -before- the election.
What, in their words, is that new direction?
What's in that new playbook?

And if the Dems dont actually have anything in that playbook -- the one that they ran on, the one that will take us in a new direction -- how is that NOT an example of mismanagement, incompetence and total lack of planning on their part?

Quote:
It's a start,
Ok, so far, the "new direction" that they ran on consists of nothing more than Bush 'holding the Iraqi government's feet to the fire'. And how many times prior to 11-7-06 has Bush said that the Iraqis need to get on their feet and take over their own secirity chores?

That's a BOLD "new direction".

Like I said:
You argued that the dems ran on a "new direction".
If you can't describe that new direction, maybe you ought to question the validity of your own statement.
