Mass Effect 3 [Spoiler Alert!]

Re: Mass Effect 3

I love both KOTOR's, The Elder Scrolls series (especially Morrowind), the Fable games, but I just didn't enjoy ME as much.

I loved both KOTOR's and the Elder Scrolls series (can't wait for Skyrim!)... didn't play Fable. Since you enjoyed Morrowind (considered a "sandbox" game), you might enjoy Gothic 3, which gives you a HUGE world you can wander as you wish. It's east European, so you may find the controls fussy (and if you didn't do the first 2 Gothics... which were great fun... you won't know who any of your "friends" are, or how y'all came to be there). The original Fallouts may have been before your time, but Fallout 3 was a Bethesda game, and it was really worth playing if you like the idea of wandering through an apocalyptic ruin of Washington, D.C., attacked by mutants a century or so after global nuclear war!

As for ME, if you'd played a female and had sex with Kaidan, I'm sure you would feel much differently about it!! :2razz:

Liara and me are gonna have little blue babies together :2razz:

Re: Mass Effect 3

I have Fallout 3, but I haven't played it much, but it looked good when I played it. Gothic looks interesting, I'll gave to see if I can pick it up.

ME1 had me and Liara together, but since ME2 it's all about Male Shep and Tali. Am going to build her a house on her home world in ME3.

I hope they keep Charge for the Vanguard.

"ASSUMING DIRECT CON--"

Along with SWTOR, Dragon Age, and Space Marine, it promises to be a glorious year for gaming.

Why is everyone so gaga over SWTOR? I'm avoiding that one like the plague.

At the very least, the single player experiences should be good. At least one a piece for the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. If I'm not happy with anything else, I can shut down my account. It'd probably only cost me one monthly fee, so I'm paying slightly more than a single game for over 200 hours of exploring the Old Republic, my favorite time period in the Star Wars EU, which is one of my favorite science fiction settings.

I expect it is at least as entertaining as WoW, which, granted, could never keep me for long.

Whether or not SWTOR can survive as a long term MMO is an open question, but I have little doubt most of its single-player experience will be worthy.

Mass effect 3 is just like
wow SO GOOD

Re: Mass Effect 3

I've got good news and bad news.

The good news is that there will be a few months to focus on enjoying Skyrim without being distracted by ME3 demanding play time.

The bad news is that ME3 has been delayed until Q1 2012.

Mass Effect 3 delayed to Q1 2012 - News at GameSpot

edit to offset this with another positive note... The Witcher 2 wait is almost over!

That ME2 ended way too soon...?

Or maybe that was me. I was happily playing and then it's like, cue Martin Sheen who will say, "damn you rascals! I'll get you next time, Captain Planet." and the show is over.

Did you do everything? My last playthrough, including all the DLC too me around 68-70 hours. Though if your not paying attention to time it may seem like it ended quickly because everything is fun(minus planet scanning).

And I'm not too disappointed with ME3 being delayed, gives them about the same time to work on it as ME2, and it's probably going to be coming out in Jan/Feb, so it's not that big of a delay. The only thing I'm worried about is it might make my grades dip a bit because I won't be off when it comes out ;)

I don't mind the delay so much either, especially after the extreme let down from that travesty of a rush job POS Dragon Age 2. I still have a bit of apprehension over the potential for EA to follow the DA2 foreshadowing and influence the game development negatively though.

I didn't to the DLC's, because last go around it was a pretty "meh" thing. Plus, I was still reeling from making the bad decision of shelling out cash for Halo 3 DLC's. :D

No way Bioware is letting EA screw up their epic trilogy, and besides EA has gotten alot better over the past few years. Now if it was Activision I'd be worried ;)

Speaking of Dragon Age I just got the 1st one, and it's fun, and I've heard mixed things about DA2, people either love it or hate it.

Get Lair of the Shadow Broker, that is a must, it's one of the best DLC's I've ever played. The others you can do without, their fun but nothing really important story wise like LOTSB.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Speaking of Bioware, just saw a preview of SW:TOR, and it was brutally slammed. Basically the article was that it played mostly just like every other MMO, except with worse combat. I will still be playing it from day one, but that preview worried me. Will dig it up in a few minutes.

Yeah, the love hate thing depends on how you liked (or if you played) DAO. The core market who loved DAO for what it was (a descendant of Baldur's Gate/NWN with a world beckoning you to explore and tactical combat) got snubbed. DA2 was all about button mashing with recycled environments, and abandoned the core concepts that endeared the game to so many originally.

I felt betrayed.

edit: and although EA may have took steps forward of late, DA2 was a gigantic step backwards, it seemed a rush job in an attempt to sell out and capitalize on the name.

I think I am the only one who hated DAO1.

Yeah, I never played Never Winter Nights, or Baldurs Gate, or any other RPG like that, so it's a new experience for me. I got into RPG's with Mass Effect 1, and Fallout 3, TBH I'm a little annoyed with combat I can't control myself, but I'm getting used to it.

I'm not sure what it is about Bioware that makes people's tastes so specific that when things don't get exactly right they have to give trash reviews.

The pause button is your friend, I mapped pause to an axillary button on my mouse. It does take some getting used to, it is a different pace, a different approach, and a different feel for the combat, having experience from Baldur's and NWN it was second nature to me.

Just to reinforce my point about the disparity of reactions to the game, and the alienating of their core market, comparing user ratings from gamespot it is 8.0 and 8.1 for 360 and PS3 players respectively. PC rating is 7.3

Yeah, I just stopped playing KOTOR because I couldn't get used to the combat,(plus the 360 emulation of that game sucks) I'll probably pick it back up if I can get used to DA combat. I much prefer games like Mass Effect, and Jade Empire where you directly control the combat.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I liked DA:O... but was not blind to its faults: huge, dreary dungeons that took hours to complete, a drudgery of an ending that went on and on and on until I just wanted to scream "enough already!" I love DA2, love the story, love the nifty inventory system, love the combat... hate the damned freaking bugs. Buggiest game Bio ever put out. :(

I'm disappointed ME3 will be delayed but I'm sure I'll take up the time with Skyrim and Witcher 2. ;)

I agree with the dungeon crawls being a bit overly drawn out in DAO, my interest waned a bit in the deep roads espcially, but overall it as a minor issue for me, I enjoy the dungeon crawls and exploring every nook and cranny (and were there ever a bunch of em!). The thing that ultimately turned me off from DA2 was the combat, I did not look forward to it, and I was mentally groaning when I got into the next fight knowing it would be the same thing: round 1 of mob to hack and slash through, just when they were almost all dealt with and everything was waiting to recharge the next round appeared, and then again when round three spawned. To me it felt unrewarding just hacking and slashing through them all instead of overcoming them due to having a good strategy (tactics got tossed out the window due to the respawns coming in from all flanks). The fights became just something that I had to do to see what came next in the story, and the story never really drew me in enough to overcome the drudgery.

The Witcher was a total surprise to me, I tried it out having no idea what to expect, and after playing a few hours on a -ahem- test copy I was off to the store to buy the game. I enjoyed that game a lot, although that one was a beast when it came to inventory management, and being stuffed to the gills with items that you just did not know whether you should sell them or keep them. I am really eager to see what they have done for The Witcher 2, hopefully it will fill the void for gaming entertainment until Skyrim and ME3 because I don't have anything on my radar aside from them. Worst case scenario is a LOT of shogun 2.

Re: Mass Effect 3

So apparently an early beta version of ME3 was leaked on Xbox Live this morning and there is a 13 minute video on youtube going through the first part of the game. I'm debating whether or not to watch it since I've read it's kind of spoilerey(is that a word?) Anyways it's been taken down, and deactivated now, but its interesting that this big of a screw up happened.
