You Suck Microsoft: I'm getting a Mac

Exactly. So I don't need a PC lol

Basic office suite software is no reason to buy for a particular OS to begin with. Given that Google and then Microsoft have been stressing cloud office suites, Microsoft has been publishing Office on the Mac for decades, and there's plenty of freebies running around (along with Apple's own software), there's no for that to be the deciding factor.

You can get office software on any platform, on all platforms, simultaneously.

No, but just keep in mind that a mac is twice the ripoff.

This is one of things like choosing a model of car that is personal. There will be reasons people prefer Macs and reasons people prefer PCs just like there are reasons prefer Ford and other people prefer VW.
The hate-Mac and hate PC crowd will always be there, bashing for no good reason whatsoever.

I'm bashing for plenty good reason. Equivalent hardware for a PC can be purchased at half the price.

Yeah but there are certain industries where a Mac is still the go-to production machine of choice. Graphics / Photography / Video Editing / Design.
Sure you can do the same on a PC but you can colour correct inherently on a Mac so what you see on screen is what you get from your printer. On a PC you have to buy an aftermarket tool like the Spyder Elite. Standard video and art tools like Photoshop / illustrator etc run on both platforms but some tools just work better on a Mac or are built into the OS.

I use and have both PC and Mac but most of my image work is done on my Mac.

If that's your thing, go for it. Just don't pretend it's the PC that is a ripoff.

My next desktop will be a pc. But I won't be using it for anything but games. I won't surfing the internet with it or anything like that. That will be forbidden on it lol. I also won't get Microsoft office suite. I don't need it. I will do my best to avoid all that garbage stuff so it won't slow my pc down.

But laptops? Mac. Pc has tried and failed. My girlfriends Mac has been nothing but pleasant. And while expensive...as you pointed out...it is expensive because it does things differently than the whores at Microsoft who want to squeeze every last cent out of me.

My Surface Pro 3 is the best mobile device I have ever encountered - bar none. Vastly more powerful than a Macbook Pro, lighter and with a better 2550 X 1440 display. Plus I don't have to take it out of my bag at airports. It runs ALL software, not just the 10% that runs on Macs. It is a vastly superior device. I7, 8GB DDR 3, 512GB SSD.

I agree the apple OS is manageable.

That said you need to grasp something that apparently you're not. You don't have to pay for Windows OS or Windows programs (OR paid antivirus such as Norton). Torrent them for free. All of China and basically Europe are using torrented Windows OS for free (as well as millions of US users).

So that entire issue you claim to have is out the window. I don't know anybody who actually paid for Windows OS, Word, PS or other programs. They torrent them for free.

I actually agree with you on Apple Laptops. They are better for "dicking around" on. The problem is price and modernity. I have the $$ to go out and buy the latest $4k+ Apple laptop (and I have savored it and starred at it on their site). Yet I still can't justify it to myself. I can't justify spending $3-4k on a laptop just to basically surf the web on when I can do that on my iphone easily and nicely.

That said if you don't mind dropping the $$$ and have the extra $$$ do it. Get an Apple laptop for sure. My experiences simply tell me that the average person goes out, drops $3-4k on an Apple laptop then ends up using it rarely and 9/10 using their phone they already had to surf web. (ironic).

So, your advice is to steal things?

Do you shoplift the food and goods you want as well?

I don't know about food and such stuff, but yeah...Ryan advocates stealing stuff online if he can.

But don't get him started...he'll hijack this thread and flood you with illogical justifications for his actions.

Sure it is. I hate Microsoft. I don't like them Sam I am. I will not use it on a train, I will not cannot use it on a plane. I will not use it on a boat or a moat. I dot not like green eggs...I mean Microsoft Sam I am.

Like I said...I've never had a good experience with Microsoft OS on laptops. That is reason enough for me to detest them.

I didn't... as I said before, I use both but I use them differently and for their different strengths.

Too late...

Price gouging has consequences.

So does theft.

Jail time and fines are a couple of those consequences.

I blame thieves for nearly destroying the PC game market. Because scumbags think they are entitled to steal the work of others, the entire industry collapsed. The this day, developers lean toward the inferior console market out of fear that sleazy crooks will steal their hard work. Luckily Steam has helped to sharply reduce the ability of these criminals to steal everything not nailed down.

I don't like thieves, they belong in prison.

No the pricing of PC games destroyed and is still destroying the gaming market. Prices are beyond insane for most games, and most of them dont come with a "try me version" so it is a full crap shoot on if you get a game you like or not. THAT is a problem. I refuse to spend 50 to 60 euros on a game if I dont know if I will like it. For example, I would like to try Elite Dangerous but I will have to pay 50 euros to try it.. if I dont like it, then I have wasted 50 euros. Now it is not a money issue for me, but it is for many kids and even adults considering how many games that come out a year. For me it is the principle.

My favourite game is Football Manager and each year I have been buying it, but I am seriously considering pirating the next version because the price of this game has increased year for year so that it now costs near 50 euros also. When is started playing back in the day, inflation adjusted it was half that price.

And steam is monstrosity that has to die.... it is so poorly programmed. Took them years to implement offline mode.. I mean wtf.

It looks like people who hate MS had better jump ship soon. That means dumping Google and Android, as well. Oh...and don't think you'll be safe with iPhone, either. MS is invading or competing with all those markets. Let's face it, if you are looking for connectivity between all of your devices...desktop and mobile...MS is the way to go.

Office, notes, photos, music...even Cortana...will be seamlessly available no matter what device you use or which OS you are rocking.

Largely Microsoft has started to position itself nicely in this era.

Cortona is going to help with iOS users, but I'm not so certain about Android (almost everyone can agree Siri was an early one hit wonder that hasn't innovated since). Microsoft office is being correctly built for an era that doesn't want to be tied down to one or two devices, but rather wanting everything to work all the time. Windows 10 is trying less to be the solution for everyone and rather more of a targeted solution for each device's peculiarity.

Music? Eh, I think that depends on your needs. Windows Media Player is hopeless. Spotify has nailed the streaming service market. iTunes, even in its really bad design phase (I can't believe they abandoned good design sense and have made iTunes much more unusable) beats the pants off of WMP.

But look, you have to give Microsoft credit for reorienting itself to see its value in the services it provides rather than the hardware it supplies.

They have been able to make sure that Google doesn't march into the online market without meaningful competition.

The music thing is more directed at music that you already own and have uploaded to OneDrive. That content, as well as anything else you have stored there, is available no matter which OS your device is using.

Depending on market share, I was thinking Googles solution was working out better for that (well I was also a fan of Amazon cloud player). But point taken.

The funny part is, that Cortana and Google Now both utterly destroy the built in SIRI on iOS devices. In fact most functions on Windows Phone and Android are far superior than on iOS. And at least a Windows Phone or Android phone cant be remotely crashed by anyone who can send a text message :)... and Apple has still not fixed it over a week since it was gaining infamy on the internets..
