Just added this app to Firefox and it seems to be working in my very limited trials.

The idea is that it makes auto-play ads which use Flash (most of them) click to play. I haven't given it any rigorous trials yet did notice that even Youtube videos on this site have to be approved.

I'm at the office all the damned time and HATE when ads just start running. I want to keep my speakers on so I can hear when I get email notifications and such so simply turning the sound off wasn't a great option. We'll see how well this works!

What is the app ? I might be interested; I have continuous problems with "shockwave flash" and have no idea how to fix it.

Have a great day Luther

I just want to note that I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and it makes a whole world of difference!! Browsing is sped up considerably because a lot of scripts I didn't want running to begin with don't have to run and when I want to see a video it's just a click away. On the rare occasion where I need the flash to run unimpeded it's a simple matter of disabling the app and restarting the browser.

Is this meant to be used as a complement to noscript or an alternative?

I'm not sure what "noscript" is. As far as I can tell it's a stand alone. What it does is make all flash applications click to play. It's not perfect but it seems to work pretty well for everything except Pogo games.

Noscript has been the traditional extension for blocking uninvited scripts. I'm not sure, but flashblock sounds like it serves a more narrowed purpose than noscript.

For example, I've allowed the scripts debatepolitics (naturally), yahooapis (though I'm not entirely clear why) and of course I've blocked google-analytics.
