Some of you asked me to keep you up to date with the progress I am making with my mod and the mod project magnar that I am working for. I will do this here.

I was originaly working on Persians and eastern colonial Greeks, but was asked to put my work on that aside to work on something else. Magnar had finished his research and pack work on the various different and historicaly accurate Germanic units of that era. I am now assisting him in creating that roster by making new armour, skin, clothes and pelt textures.

First task are "Night Hunters". According to the historic research (we want everything to be as historicaly accurate as possible) these were germanic warriors who would use charcoal and mud to paint their bodies as black as possible, to be camoflaged during the night. These painted night warriors would then stalk out enemy troops during the night and set up ambushes.

In vanila (original), the camoflage warpaint looks horrible:

I doubt that the ancient germans has some sufisticated way of painting almoust perfect camoflage patters on their bodies. Those look like if they were from a modern army. And they certainly dont work in serving the purpose of hiding yourself during the night. Besides that, they all have the same pattern!!!

I wanted the camoflage to look like hastily painted, gritty, dark, serving the purpose of hiding the mans body all whilest looking somewhat tribal. And this is what I came up with:

Now I have to make warpaint for 3 other units.

According to research, amongst the germanic tribes there were warriors known as "buck warriors", "bear warriors" and "wolf warriors". Those 3 types of warriors would paint themselves in warpain and cover themselves in buck, bear and wolf pelts. They would immitate these animals in their behavior and apperance and would fight in such a way.

I know have to create new pelts and skins for these units.
