Battlefield 4 for PC

I thought about doing that when I built my last PC, but just opted for the one graphics card board. I discovered that you didn't get double power, it just split the power.

I don't know where you get that idea, but it's wrong.

When it comes to the performance results, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 performed as expected and we were impressed. Our performance numbers significantly improved and our gaming experience was better! Of the nine benchmarks that we used we found that adding a second GeForce GTX 680 for SLI improved performance on average by 64% at a resolution of 1920×1080 and 84% at 2560×1600. All of our tests showed a larger benefit from running in SLI at 2560×1600, so if you are gaming on a 30-inch panel you will get bigger performance gains that someone on a smaller 21.5-24″ panel. Performance scaling was fairly solid and we didn’t run into any gaming issues on this multi-GPU setup, which is impressive seeing how this is the first public driver for the new Kepler core architecture! Then again, this is a $1000 setup, so it better work right!

Now, you'll never get double the power...not from any dual card set up...but you do get a definite increase.

When I looked into it, the technology was still relatively new. I know there are some folks with 3 and 4 graphics cards. The problem I have is that I need at least one PCI slot where I can plug in my Hauppauge TV card. With these double and triple graphics slots, spare PCI slots disappear. I have to balance everything together, not to mention the cost of buying 2 or even 3 high end graphics boards. Even if I have at least one PCI slot, chances are the GPU will cover that slot.

Two or more graphics cards are not for everyone...especially when you consider the costs. But if that's what you want, then you only have to do the research and find the right motherboard for your needs.

Another option is a dual gpu in a single card. Those work well, too.

That's a thought, but when I build my next PC, I'll probably get a motherboard that offers dual graphics cards, but initially only run one.
