Skyrim

I play that game all the time. The gameplay itself is fun, but I also like the graphics, music, and plot that adjusts around your actions rather than forcing you to take specific actions. There are quite a few problems with the game, though:

1. The game is incredibly glitchy. Most glitches don't matter, but I've had glitches that get me stuck in a specific spot, and sometimes I can't absorb dragon souls. It's also interesting to see mammoths spawn fifty feet off the ground.

2. The loading screens. One of my friends quit playing because they finally got to him. If there's a boss or a bunch of enemies that I have a hard time killing, the 30 second loading screens add insult to injury.

3. Have any of you beaten the main questline yet? If you have then you'll know that the second time around Alduin was way too easy. The enemies and bosses before him, especially Tsun were hard enough to compensate, but still. The final boss should have been harder.

4. The game is a time suck. I need to play for two or three hours to get any fun out of it. That's a sign of a good game, but it's a problem that breaches the fourth wall.

When I first started playing the load screens sucked so I went out and got a better video card and it's no longer an issue. If you're trying to run the game at or near minimum specs you're missing out.

I sold my copy in order to buy the last piece of Mass Effect 3 DLC, no regrets!

I play it on the XBOX 360, not on the PC. That's kind of unfortunate, the Dragonborn and Dawnguard expansion packs seem fun.

My son bought Skyrim for himself, and now we're fighting over whose turn it is to play... and I'm not really that much of a gamer.

Darn good game... addictive too, I've been burning time playing it when I really ought to be doing other things. Stayed up till 2am the other night and I'm usually in bed at 10.

Open-world format, lots and lots of dense content and new nooks and crannies to explore, lots of options, but very playable.... not too complicated to turn off a casual gamer like me.

What race are you, and what type of fighting do you use primarily?

I also put some money down on The Last of Us during that transaction, which I'm playing right now, and the best game I've played so far this year. Including Bioshock:Infinite.

And that Mass Effect DLC is SO awesome, had much more fun with that then I did Skyrim.

So far my son has experimented with half a dozen characters, but I've stuck with just one.

Nord... just because that is kind of the default Skyrim race. Mostly fight with sword and shield, but I use the bow a good bit too. Actually since I finished the Winterhold College quest, I use magic more than steel.

Got an ebony bow I put a flame damage enchantment on; a skyforge steel sword I also enchanted with fire; an ebony shield enchanted with fire resistance... those are my main weapons.

For magic, I make heavy use of Destruction spells, esp firebolt, fireball, and lightning, but I also do some in all the other disciplines of magic too.

Kind of a Nord-of-all-trades. :)

Goshin, pc or console version?

Oh, and Dragon Age 2 is MUCH better than Skyrim.

Yeah, haters gonna hate

You are perfectly entitled to your incorrect opinions.

Bah. Was going to recommend a couple nice, simple mods, but can only do that on the PC.

Yup, I know. :)

But Xbox is where we first danced, so ...

Me too. What level are you?

I'm an Imperial, and I use mostly a sword-and-shield. Lately I've been trying to level up my archery and sneak simultaneously by crouching and then shooting enemies.

I don't really enchant my weapons, but I have a few enchanted weapons. I did a Daedric quest and got Dawnbreaker, a sword that sets enemies on fire and will scare away undead if I manage to kill an undead with it - I use it whenever I go into a burial crypt. I got a Daedric mace that I never use, and the Blade of Woe from the Dark Brotherhood quest.

I only use novice healing spells. Firebolt looks cool, especially how you can blast dragon skeletons a long way if you aim it just right.

What Stone did you use?

dragon age 2 was awefull, the first one was awesome, baldurs gate one and 2 were awesome, but dragon age 2 was biowares absolute joke of a game.

Morrowind was the epitome of the TES series.

morrowind was a good game, but i wouldnt call it the epitome, its crashy nature and complicated gameplay horribly hurt its standing.it would be awesome if morrowing was redone with a better combat and interaction system.

If you like Skyrim, try Daggerfall, which is Skyrim with better story, more complex environment, more imaginative quests, more exploration, and deeper gameplay.

daggerfall requires too much imagination and free thinking for todays gamers, they want a guided experience, instead of the experience of having to hand draw your maps when playing an rpg because automaps and markers didnt exist, and existing maps in those games sucked.

plus the first es game, arena is too hard for todays modern warfare crowd, not only was it a sandbox game,it was rediculously difficult.heck i even have a hard time with the dark brotherhood killing me every time i rest.

28th right now. I used the Warrior Stone, originally intending the character to be mainly a fighter who just used a little supplemental magic.

However after doing the Magic College quests and getting the Robes of the Archmage, I found magic to be a lot more useful. I picked up a couple more artifacts that boost magicka, regeneration or spells and found myself using magic more than fighting.

Once you get the Impact perk, dual-casting firebolt or fireball becomes really impressive and effective...

I never had a real problem with crashing, and as far as gameplay, it did not strike me as at all complicated. The story was complex to a degree, as was the world, but the gameplay was not. Of course my biggest complaint about the following games was that they simplified things too much. In the case of Skyrim, way, way, way too much.

I dunno. I think the market is there. Look at, for example, Eve Online. Complex, deep gameplay that requires putting time into learning the game and how to get around, but still highly successfull, and has been successful for quite some time.

I ran a Khajiit, he ended up at level 42, I think, in full legendary daedric armor with basic enchantments, I didn't even have to do any major enchantments, he could kill anything in the game with a couple of hits. There are some enchantments that make one-hit kills of anything guaranteed and where's the fun in that? I eventually stopped playing because I beat all of the quests, with the exception of four that were terminally glitched. I really had no interest in going through and maxing all of the skills because... what's the point? I'm already a badass with nothing left to do, what do I need to be at 100% on all the skills?

I don't want to scare off the undead, I want them to come on in so I can kill them. :)

With that said, I recall a few times I got swarmed when it would have been handy to have them all run away temporarily while I got my schitck back together....

I'm kind of curious to see how many locations folks have found. My original character (Lv 55) has 396 on the stats tab and I haven't done Dawnguard or the Bards college yet so I figure that there's more. I'm also in the process of building more houses. I've built one and it's decent but I really want more.

I haven't looked at the stats; I have trouble reading the print.

However, I've discovered dozens upon dozens of locations and I just KEEP on finding more... lotta content in this game...

That's what Dawnbreaker is good for. Some of the really tough undead - Draugr Scourges and Death Overlords - will actually be chased away by Dawnbreaker. Eventually they'll come back, but as they are fleeing it is a good time to heal or land some serious ass kicking.
