I dont agree on this part. You are on the Internet.. privacy is almost non existent there. If someone wants to find you, then they will find you. Only way to avoid this, is to not be in the Internet and even then it might not work. Every company connected to the internet has some sort of privacy issue. It all depends on what you define as privacy. Only way to be 100% private is not to be on the Internet.
Let me give you an example. These boards. It is not hard for an admin/or someone with access to find your IP. From that the admin could rather easily find out where you live and what your real name is. From that he could find out quite a bit of your life. Hell it might not even be an admin, since the software for these boards are know to be full of bugs and security holes.
I agree somewhat.. but let me ask you this. This is a private company and you sign the terms and conditions when you sign up.. So cant that company do what ever it wants with in those terms and conditions you agreed too? And how long is "adequate notice"? Let me give you another example. A mobile phone maker releases a new phone and operating system, but certain features dont work on older models despite it being possible. There was no notice what so ever that this would happen.. is that right? What about those that just bought the old phone a few weeks or a month earlier with the expectation that it is fully compatible with the new software?
On this I agree. It looks like the site was made by a linux nerd with zero training in how to make things user friendly. Navigation is horrible.. it is almost worst than iTunes for Windows or Ubuntu Linux.
No offence, but nothing is ever really truly deleted from the Internet or on computers. While I personally understand the Timeline, I dont like how it is done. But then again if you dont want something on your Timeline..dont post it or make the whole profile private so only people you know can see it.
Disagree. They are no different than any other company. For example did you know that if you so call buy music or movies from iTunes or Amazon, then you dont actually own it? Both companies reserve the right to deny you access to your music library via their software if they suspect you of something.
Then set up Facebook correctly. However you can never prevent Facebook employees looking.. just as you can never prevent email providers looking at your email and so on.
And? Again settings and in this case (no offence).. parenting
But I think it is a generational issue. My father and his sister are very "WTF" when they see my cousins 17 year old daughter show off her new tattoo, with a bottle in her hand or snogging (that is British for kissing) some girl or guy... but guess what.. that is how teenagers act
Big Brother already knows. The NSA have been snooping on calls and text for over a decade, not to mention your telecommunications companies.
Well I dont like how Fox News degrades the journalist trade and I voice that opinion on these boards. Are you suggesting to avoid this, that I should either be banned from the net or these boards be taken down? Heard about censorship? The only certain thing is that people dont have to listen to my rants about Fox News, just as I dont or you dont have to listen to who did who over the weekend on Facebook.
Then you must have lived in a bubble
Teens have always been like that, usually in schools or outside. People now have the ability to rant about things that pisses them off... like these boards.. aint that a good thing? Or should we just hold it all in and at some point go "postal" with a gun to get rid of our anger? In the old days it was letters to the editor.. but then there was a censorbot called the editor that prevent most people from being heard. The Internet has changed that.. is that a bad thing?
