And this is how you know Disney is still evil.

After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games," LucasArts parent company LucasFilm said in a statement. "As a result of this change, we’ve had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles.”

Translation: We're taking a spotty performance record and making it worse without supposedly totally ruining the image of the franchise.

Lucasarts hasn't been any good since Grim Fandango, anyway.

They've publish dozens and developed few more fantastic games since Grim Fandango.

Disney Shuts Down LucasArts, Cancels Star Wars 1313 And Star Wars: First Assault

Kotaku speaks true.

They are dead. Closed and laid off all of the workers.

Kaput.

Damn you Disney, DAMN YOU. Star Wars 1313 looked so cool too.

I guess we will never see a Battlefront III either.

RIP LucasArt 1982 - 2013.

P.S. This is all your fault George Lucas. Damn you as well.

Don't worry there will be a dozen other cover based shooters released in the next year, and if you really want the Stars Wars flavor just shout pew pew pew when you play the game, same difference anyway. ;)

You shut your heathen mouth you nonbeliever.

Nope, they haven't.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars: Battlefront I & II
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb
Lego Star Wars
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Star Wars: Empire at War

None of those strike you as great games?

Yada yada. I loved the premise of 1313 and what gameplay was released caught my interest. And a third person cover based shooter doing so has never really happened. I don't even like Uncharted very much.

I watched the trailer in the link in the OP, I rolled my eyes so hard when those crates exploded and literally peppered the map with waist high walls and boxes. And I guess the 'game' consists of various reskinned hallways of waist high boxes, walls, overturned tables, etc that you blast from and regenerate health behind about 10-15 times with a cut scene in between each one and then its over. Fantastic.

That's like driving a Prius, all the while with a CD recording of a Ferrari's engine roaring blasting on the stereo. It's....just not the same.

Rogue Squadron might have been the best game I've ever played.

Nope, they haven't.

Can't disagree more:

Rogue Squadron for Gamecube was excellent, as was Jedi Outcast on the PC, SWG before they ruined it...

But the kicker, if you think Knights of the Old Republic or SW: Battlefront series weren't good games you have zero gamer credibility with me.

If liking first person shooter/first person light-saberer games is what you need to have gamer cred then I couldn't be more pleased to not have gamer cred. I'm not a slack jawed stoner who likes to blow things up, I like puzzles. And the last decent adventure game LucasArts put out was Grim Fandango.

No. Do they strike you as great games? Does one of those really have the word LEGO in the title?

Yes, they are all great games.

And yes, Telltale Games does a fantastic job with the Lego games. They are very good games.

And as a reference to the post just before this one; did you call Grim Fandango decent? I hope you were using this to illustrate a point rather than actually assert Grim Fandango is simply decent.

Grim Fandango certainly surpasses mere decency. But my point was that it was the last of LucasArt's decent games. For reference, The Dig was merely decent. Grim Fangando is perhaps the greatest game of all time. Then, after that, nothing from LucasArts except a string of cynical Star Wars tie-in games.

Star Wars: Empire at War

Great list my friend, but Juiposa I have an issue with this particular title.

While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I can only give it 5/10 purely based on how unbalanced the ground combat was.

The space combat was beautifully balanced and visually spectacular.

But I found the ground combat the complete opposite and so I can't really class this as one of the better Star Wars titles.

By the way for true Star Wars gamers, one of the best Star Wars games of all time AND one of the best space sims of all time goes to Star Wars: X Wing Alliance.

I love the game simply for the space combat. Other than that, I can agree 100%.

Dude, don't knock the Lego video games. They're pure fun, especially the ones for the Wii.

I have no doubt that the LEGO games are up there with such classics as Barbie Pony Princess and Slinky: the Video Game.

Dude, Knights of the Old Republic is one of the greatest RPG's ever, can't say that game isn't great.

I can and did. Lucas arts made some great games, they were called adventure games. The star wars license might have sold well but the star wars games uniformly suck. Stars Wars was an ok movie, nothing great. The games are just more of the same boring pulp scifi.
