A couple weeks ago, my upgrade finally came due and I got an iPhone5. It took me a while to get to playing around with Siri. It works very, better than any other voice command app I've used on a phone. Siri accurately brings up the song I'm wanting to hear,, texts and makes calls. I even got her to search the web for DP. :)

While I'm driving around, I was bored and started talking to Siri, for fun. Hey, I wasn't texting, just speaking. :2razz:

So far the best response I've gotten was today. "Can you sing, Siri"

"OK, if you insist."

She then began to recite the lyrics to "If I Only Had A Brain". When she got to the title lyric, "if I only had a...hey! Wait a minute!".

Has anyone else been so goofy as to ask their Siri non-phone related questions?

I told her she was cool and she was like, "I am"?

Welcome to the iPhone family, Gina.

Awwwwwww, thanks Xy! :) Still not so sure about the cool part though. :2razz:

I was skeptical, I have to admit. I had a bit of trouble getting used to typing on it, but that has came along pretty quickly. :)

My other favorite answer to a question, "Do you like Steve Jobs?"

"I'd rather not say."

i'll be replacing my Droid X eventually, and this is one of the phones i'm considering. question : what's the battery life like? i hate that you can't replace it with an extended. my Droid X would have been a PITA without the extended battery, which is still going strong 2.5 years later. also, how's the camera?

I have yet to run down the battery. I use it all day long and can't remember to charge it at night. So, for me, I'd say the battery is lasting 2 or more days, before I get to purposely charging it. I do plug it into my computer to update my music, but that is incidental. So, I'm happy with how long it lasts. I heard that was a problem in earlier versions. *edit* It does seem to charge really quickly too.

The camera seems really good. My kids have iPhone 4 and 4s. They love my cam. The other has a Galaxy, the new one, and it doesn't seem any better than mine. I have zoomed in really close and gotten a grainy result, but that isn't a problem. It zooms in really tight.

thanks for the info; i have a lot of time to decide, and i'm weighing my options. i'm a tech geek, and it seems a shame that i haven't had at least one Iphone.

as for the camera, it's that way with any camera that relies on digital zoom. you're not really zooming; you're concentrating on a smaller portion of a fixed frame. only physical zoom cameras can actually zoom without increasing pixelation. i guess i'm more concerned about the purple haze issues in high light that some users have reported. but if you're not noticing problems, the camera is probably passable. either way, it would be a step up from my X, probably. i've gotten a couple fantastic shots with it, but the light has to be absolutely perfect and there's little room for error.

You are welcome! :) I've been hesitant to go iPhone because of various issues with the 5's predecessors and then some with the 5. But I'm really happy with it. :)

No, I haven't notice purple haze or anything that was bothersome about the pictures. I don't worry about the lighting and the pictures are great.

Good luck with whatever you decide to get! :)

It would be a nice function if it worked outside the U.S. and was not on an iPhone.

Amazing!

Granted, 4 years ago my Droid did all of that...but it is truly amazing!

It's my first smartphone, so I'm all agog at the technology. :D

It does... on android. My personal assistant on my 3 year old android can do all what Siri can, and more.. unless they finally fixed Siri so it can open 3rd party apps.

Don't let the iPhone haters get to you. My friends tried every other type phone out there, droids, Blackberrys, even the short lived Google phone, and all but one eventually changed to an iPhone. The smart phone wouldn't be what it is today without the iPhone. All those others were created to complete with it. Everything else is essentially a copy, and while the functions may seem similar, nothing does it better.

:) Thanks X!

My son tried and iPhone 3, I think that was it, it was a couple years ago, then went to an android and then couldn't wait to go back to the iPhone. LOL

I'm just so pleased I like it, and Siri is such a kick, I had to post! :D I agree, Apple has driven the competition. For good reason. ;) And, I love that my music is on it without a hitch. :)

Short lived Google phone? LOL! You do realize that "short lived" must mean the last 4+ years right?

The smartphone would not even exist if it was not for Blackberry and Nokia. Only thing the iPhone did was to make a smartphone that was targeted the masses instead of business. Along with the very loyal Apple fanbase, and brilliant marketing, Apple has managed to sucker millions into an eco-system that is cost the user money all the time.

And while the iPhone may have been ahead of everyone at the start, it is certainly not now. Every iOS update is playing catch up to the other big players. Every new iPhone is technology wise behind most other phones.
