Skyrim: Dragonborn Awesome But PC Fans Are In For Real Dragon Eye Candy

So we should be seeing it for the PC in a month or so?

I am guessing within the next 2 weeks. Bethesda is being very tight lipped though.

PCs are superior to consoles, this is not news. Best thing that could happen to gaming is get rid of consoles and dumbed down console games.

"Colouring is now more natural and they are less de-saturated."

More natural, on a dragon?

Believe me, the LAST thing you want is a de-saturated dragon!

Both of those terms imply that a dragon is actually given certain established characteristics in color (especially based in our reality), which is why it is worth heckling. :p

I was hoping he was talking about the whole atmosphere of the world around him. Skyfall is less colorful than Oblivion, more dependent upon brown, gray, black, white, and dark blue.

I'd prefer being able to punch the guy next to me for being a jackass on my couch instead of huddled together in a mess of cables, desks, and less normal conversation, intently staring at a screen less than a foot away.

I figure it's supposed to be that way because it's primarily tundra and snow fields whereas Oblivion was mostly woodlands.

Then plug a PC into a TV.

I admit consoles are more social in that regard, but I prefer not to have farting overweight drunk eating machines in my home. Better on the internet, lol.

Split-screen games/party games on the PC are that widespread? :p This is why I have a love/hate relationship with the console shooters. They turned too much into PC games in that they think "well, this person will only want to play by themselves...ever...but just in case, we will stick some half-hearted multiplayer experience that no one will play." It wasn't until recently that the Call of Duty games seemed to come to the realization that 4 player split screen Halo was frequently way more fun than 1 person-at-a-time Xbox live with random people (usually tweens or over-psyched frat boys) that shout racial slurs and harass you on and off the game.

Hehehehe! Oh god I hope not!

You touch upon an interesting problem. Consoles have ventured into PC territory and Vise verse. Elder Scrolls and Mass Effect started as PC only games. Then the company's got greedy and all of a sudden both are console ported to pc. Controls and the wonderful detail all gone and now are dumb down console versions. Then you have abominations like the original Dead Space. Made for console, great reviews etc. Now comes the afterbirth of a PC port and oh my god it sucked.

It's all about how much money they can make now days.

Elder scrolls can have that problem, but I think it has gotten to the point where largely, it being on a PC isn't very necessary...it's just prettier and has more customizations (I bought Oblivion and Skyrim first on the consoles, then again on the PC...it just turned into a habit that way). Mass Effect feels very simplified to me (basic, perhaps clunky Gears of War-style combat with few dialogue choices), and worked well as a console game, immersed me fully. I never got that urge to even try it on the PC or want much more from it as a game (Suppose I was just used to KOTOR's relative success and treated it similarly).

But when it comes to shooters...my goodness, I just have way more fun with the combination of online play with split screen. Get your buddies, but you get a host of other players in a large environment. It was so much more fun to drink a lot of gin or beer with friends and then go crazy on Halo (dicking around sometimes, but having a blast with cooperative vehicle use, etc.) Call of Duty felt like something I would play online for chunks at a time on a weekend morning when it's snowing outside and I have no reading to do.

I have been playing PC games since the early 80's and consoles cannot hang at all with a well done PC game for immersion. Also Oblivion and even Skyrim are toned down versions of what Morrowind was. I will say Skyrim at least tried a little to go back to it's Morrowind roots. Mass Effect having immersed you fully says allot about our different expectations. Don't get me wrong, I liked Mass Effect from 1 on through to 3. I did not like how from 1 to 2 it became just another console shooter instead of a role playing game.

Simulators, Role playing games and realistic military sims are what the PC is good at. I don't just want to play an unrealistic game that simulates nothing. Unfortunately in the race to make money these great PC genre's are far a few between now days. Then you have that bull**** Steam you can't even own your game anymore. I have games from 20 years ago I can still play and still love. Lets see what happens to old Steam games in 20 years.

Anyway it just boils down to taste. I see nothing wrong with liking your style of play or game. Just not for me.

Real-time strategy games also seem to be obvious choices for the PC, to me still. Controls for Starcraft on the N 64 were even hard to contemplate, let alone be brave enough to play, same with Command and Conquer back in the day. Yikes. I don't think I can think of many heavy-hitters that have tried to do it since the early part of the last decade or before.

That's nice that the dragons have better color. When is anyone going to make a mod where the Skyrim women are less frigid? After playing different characters for about 10 times on this game and marrying about 8 different girls, each time I play, I have yet to get laid.

You don't have the "sexyback" mod? It allows you to get well sort of laid. Not super graphic, but it has nice effects when combined with the nude mods. You can actually sleep with your wife!

One time, I married that miner girl, Sylgia. I slept with her at her house, and woke up with the "Lover's Comfort." Then I went on the road for a few days and came back. I then tried to sleep next to her and was met with the message that I couldn't sleep in an owned bed, and that I was trespassing. I guess she didn't like our first session. Later I moved into this 25,000 Septim house. She came in and slept in the servant's quarters. Man, I really got the cold shoulder from her, but then again, I wasn't home much, either.

Hehehehe! The Skyrim women are a cold heart'ed bunch!

Then you are seriously underestimating the content the PC Skyrim community have produced, the mods are incredible.

You should try marrying more than one girl. I had 3 of them at the altar, but all of a sudden, everybody got mad at me, started calling me bad names, and the priest kicked me out of the temple. They need to make a Mormon mod.

A Mormon mod, now that would be epic!
