I played this one game for Nintendo DS called Galactrix. It's a variant of the Puzzle Quest series in which you have to line up colored boxes on the screen to defeat your opponents.

This version is nucking futs I tell you. It's one of those kinds of games where the developers CLEARLY didn't think putting the game on default Hard Mode would be a bad idea. Oh, and it's also one of those EXTREMELY "sacky," luck-based games.

As the review says, No one in Space can hear you Scream.

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Review for DS: In space, no one can hear you scream in frustration. - GameFAQs

Battles are unavoidable too, but there are far fewer of them this time around. You would think that'd be a shame, but the battles in Galactrix are horrifically castrated compared to the original PQ. Battles still adhere to the same basic idea as they did in Warlords, with some interesting changes. The biggest differences are the shield system and the way the gems work. Each ship's health is comprised of their hull and shields. Hull damage is permanent, and the goal is to bring the opponents down to zero. Shield energy can be replenished... Both through skills or combining blue gems. As for the rest of the gems, Intel is used as experience points, while Red , Yellow, Green and Purple gems are used to initiate special skills. Mine gems work like skulls in the first game, only now they're numbered with specific amounts of damage. In some ways these changes have made the game more interesting. For example, the new shield system allows for more defensive plays than before. Unfortunately the changes have also brought about a lot of kinks. Enemies tend to enjoy abusing the shield system, and are equipped with items that replenish shield without sacrificing turns. It's also extremely disappointing how much is based on luck. You can fight an enemy the same level as yourself and take 40 attempts to kill him. By the same token, you can dispatch an enemy 10 levels above you relatively easy simply because his equipment sucks. The difficulty level is extremely unbalanced. It doesn't help that gem entries are still incredibly random, and both you an your opponent can simply trip into some incredible combos resulting in both massive damage and gem hoarding... And for no other reason than "it happens".

They had a damned fine, creative concept... but they nucked it up when they made it too difficult, too bland, too random, and too redundant. Just IMAGINE if Square Enix got their hands on this game's development instead.

What's your worst game you've ever played?

Pretty much all first person shooters.

Sonic the hedgehog thingy

Yoshi's Story. Probably the most disappointing sequel in all media.

Probably Blinx: The TImesweeper. It was a most wretched game, with horrid graphics and poor gameplay.

First person shooting games, and one dual game where you were a dinosaur and had to fight other dinosaurs. I returned a non working game and had to buy another one, to be safe I went Jurasic with that one, played in PS1.

there are so many, it's hard to pick a worst.

Top Gun for NES was pretty bad, and no list is complete without ET for the 2600. i hate games that are too frustrating / too pointless.

Hmmm. I'd have to say Blinx.

Oh god yes...Top Gun....nothing as aggrevating as beating a level and crashing while trying to land on a carrier due to a crappy landing system.

Any of the more recent(Post Neverwinter Nights) games from Bioware. Play for a couple minutes, click past 2 dozen cinematics, play for a couple minutes, click past cinematics...If I want to play a visual novel, I will get a visual novel. If I am playing an RPG, I want to play a game.

I'm shocked.

First-person shooters suck depending on the way they're made, but there's some really good ones out there, like Halo, Black Ops, and the Metroid Prime series. Definitely Metroid Prime hands-down. Halo 1 was simply epic with fun gameplay. Black Ops is alright, but you get killed so quickly..

As for Sonic, the only one that really stood out was Adventure Battle 2, which brought Shadow into the mix. THAT game was a symbol of the Gamecube's success.

...the classic Yoshi's Story for SNES... bad?

Sometimes I think that I must be the only one who ever noticed the bottom right corner (where it tells you the speed and altitude required for landing). I loved Top Gun when I was little.

Action 52 is by far the worst NES game I ever played. It's soooooo bad. I mean it's not even a contest... the developers of that POS should be shot.

no list is complete without ET for the 2600.

Haha. Yeah that game was awful and definitely takes the 2600 cake.

Yoshi's Story. Probably the most disappointing sequel in all media.

You must be thinking of SNES Yoshi's Island (SMW2), which is freaking awesome. Yoshi's Story was on the 64, and it was awful.

So true.

Superman on the 64 was so bad. Not just gameplay wise... it was so buggy. Flying through the ground. Flying into negative black zones inside buildings and getting stuck. Sticking to walls that you aren't even touching. I mean did they test it AT ALL? Nobody stopped and thought, wait, this game completely sucks?

Game Party on the wii has to be up there too. All of the games are just total crap and the controls are terrible.

i hate games that are too frustrating / too pointless.

Frustrating games are a lot of times my favorites. Ghosts and Goblins, TMNT, Contra, Battletoads, Silver Surfer... all some of my favs for the NES. The whole I Wanna Be The Guy series constantly made me want to smash my entire PC with a sledgehammer, but I couldn't stop playing them.

Ohhh.... I've been proven wrong. Thanks. You're right, Yoshi's Story sucked.

Ghosts and Goblins became a favorite of mine when the game genie came out. it was nice to finally see the later levels.

I don't seem to have the problem y'all do...for a couple of reasons:

1. I don't play console games...period.
2. I do a lot of research before I buy. That prevents wasting good money on bad games.

Now...of the games I have wasted money on, the only one I ended up not enjoying was Doom III. It was good in the gameplay and graphics areas, but got boring. <move through and area...get jumped by monsters...kill monsters (rinse and repeat)>

Sonic was just a Mario rip off with better graphics. There was nothing different about the game really.

I am a sucker for shooter games. I really liked Full Spectrum Warrior even though it was not always as intense as other I have played and maybe didn't have as good of a story. There were a couple tough engagements in there that required you to be skilled with all the types of weapons.

Magic The Gathering Tactics, a free to play online card game with the worst free to play model ever. Utterly unemployable without spending money.

They and all others should learn from Riot's example with League of Legends. You don't have to spend a dime for 100% enjoyability, yet I've spent over $300 on this free to play game for vanity items.

worst game ever was the first metal gear solid, the game was so awesome me and my brother played it in 12 hour shifts non stop trying to unlock everything while getting high and drunk during summer.end resultthe playstations laser mechanismmelted at the slider part, making me unable to play any games on that playstation forcingme toresort to my supernintendothe restof the summer.

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City by far. I literally walked down a hallway and shot 3 people then stopped playing it because it was so bad.

And Test Drive Unlimited 2.

PC has their fair share of bad games too. Big Rigs comes to mind.

Oh, for sure, PC's have bad games but my point #2 takes care of them for me.

What 505 said.

Everything about the original SNES Yoshi game, the charming crayon graphics style, the wonderful physics that allowed one to ricochet eggs, the challenging level design and the memorable tunes - none of it returned. It's the epitome of a bad follow-up, all the more surprising that the most talented game developers in the world created it.

The first Star Wars MMO. I was sooooooo excited! Played it for an hour. Worst gaming experience in my life. A butterfly... BUTTERFLY kicked my ass again and again. (dont say 'like in real life') and moving around was close to impossible in a fluid manner.

I remember seeing that Yoshi game of N64 on YouTube, and those WERE terrible graphics. It doesn't make sense why the wouldn't stick the the earlier, epic graphics.

Well that sucks. The games need to have balance and smooth flow.
