How Microsoft Can Give Windows 8 a Boost

im not even worried about windows 8 anymore, windows blue is speculated to release this year, and microsoft plans on doing small release macos style now instead of long term stable releases like they did traditionally.

what gets me is that from whats been leaked microsoft has been with the idea of replacing aero as the desktop manager and integrating metro into the classic desktop further.the other idea was to strip the desktop down to windows 2000 ui.all of this subjet to change as microsoft hasnt released major details yet,but still troubling.

further if windows follows macos path and releases amajor os every year, and follows their plans to stop supporting new apps for windows 8 when blue is released, this will effectively kill their business appeal,as most business choose windows over mac because they know their os will be supported for a long time, and most business cant afford to upgrade their osfor entire mainframes on a yearly basis.and it will face the same compatibility problems macos faces between rapidly changing versions.

this in turn would likely boost linux and bsd in the business world,a still windows dominated market.of course if windows follows through with its current ideas as suggested, that shift would take atleast five years,as the last lts windows would be windows 7,in which case most companies would use it until it didnt work anymore before changing it.

At $40.00 or less a year for updates, I'll stick with Microsoft. I like their direction, I'll like it even more when I get a Win8 Pro tablet and I'll really like it when Virgin Mobile finally gets a Win8 phone in their lineup.

my point doesnt cover consumers, since consumers tend to change oses alot anyways,it more covered business, which rely on long term support, and microsofts move away from long term support in favor of short erm oses like osx, which in term is bad for companies, which will force them into vendors who supply long term support rather than rapid os releases.

notice macos is almost non existent in the business world outside of graphic design, this is because of low legacy support and compatibility issues between releases, microsoft is attempting the same idea, despite the fact it has been shown a failure in the business world.further microsoft has been toying with the idea of using metro for its business os despite its widespread rejection in the business world, due to metros low ability of multitasking and windows promise to stripdown and eventually eliminate the multitasking of the desktop in favor of single tasking touchscreen ui's.

To be honest, I'd say most of what is written on the Internet about Microsoft's plans are unsubstantiated rumors. In any event, I don't believe they will ever turn Windows into something like Android. At least, not for PC's. I think we will always be able to multitask as we do now.

Step 1. Make the interface look like windows 7 and have that metro crap be optional (or allow the user to decide)
Step 2. Profit

(there really is no ??? step here)

Are people STILL pissing and moaning about the Win8 Start screen?

Damn people actually wanting a product to work like they want! How unreasonable!

I have Windows 8 and don't even know it's there as my computer boots to my regular desktop after each restart once I installed Classic Shell...

shrug...

I've been using Win8 for four months now and it works just how I want it to. What's YOUR problem? The Start Screen? Heck, you don't even have to look at the freakin thing if you don't want to.

Meh, I played around with 8, wasn't impressed. It's clearly meant for touch-screen PC's, and without that bit of technology may as well stick with 7. It's alright, but not impressive enough for me to switch to a new OS.
