Has anyone been to a Microsoft Store?

1. No, there are not that many and none outside the US.
2. Apple did not invent the freaking store concept.
3. I dont like the idea of a "company store".. It has been tried before and it is expensive, and limits exposure to customers of the products.

2. This place looks eerily like apple's store, and no, we know apple did not invent the store.

And the Apple store looks like my local Worten (technology store).. so what. Hey in fact, my local Worten has an Apple section with their overpriced crap on display.

How does this even work?

MS buys laptops and desktops from other firms and resells them? Isn't that a bit odd for a software company?

Color me confused.

Well that is what Apple does so....

Um, no. Apple actually makes the prototypes, and outsources the manufacturing and then sells the product under its own brand.

They take parts from other suppliers, smack them together in a pretty box and calls it innovative. Apple only makes the software and even that they steal often from others :)

Microsoft, outside of the Surface Tablet, does not do that.

Correct, Microsoft is not per say in the PC hardware business, but they have "people for that".

As long as the Microsoft store doesn't employ people with the "genius" tag who couldn't type their way out of wet paper bags, I'm cool with the concept.

Apple does not "smack" anything together. Nearly everything they make is custom made and tailored for their products other than memory, storage, and intel processors. The CPUs in their iOS devices are custom made by them based off the patent blueprints of ARM processors just as nearly every other company does. However, the iOS device CPUs are custom only to apple products while you may find the "snap dragon" CPU in several non apple company phones. What is true is like most companies, after apple makes the machines they outsource the manufacturing the Foxconn, trst, Samsung, Sony, sharp, etc in their preassembly units.
