Windows 8 upgrade site up and running

I took a course in programming in the mid-70's. Learned Basic, FORTRAN, COBOL, RPG-II and Machine Language. The school had an IBM 360. In the early 80's my first computer was a VIC-20 and I progressed to the 64 and 128. After that, I've kept on upgrading and building PC's till I'm at the powerhouse I have today. This one should last me at least five years.

btw, Since AMD came out with the Athlon so many years ago, my current computer is my first Intel processor...a Core i7-3930K. And I've never owned an ATI/AMD video card.

Seriously, my first PC ran DOS 3.0 and that was after having owned 3-4 non-PC computers going back to the mid 70s.

First computer I ever used was a TRS-80. First I ever owned was a TI-99.

My first major computer was a TI-99/4, then upgraded to a 4A. I had computers before that though.

I have never even heard of most of the computers mentioned in this thread.

Now you make ME feel old.

I'm not, at least some of us got to see the U.S. before it was a liberal wasteland.

Too bad I live in a country where it's foundation is Liberal and whose culture was formed by the Liberal party. So we view the U.S. as a conservative wasteland that is far behind on social progress. Now back to the thread.

With three weeks left till the release of Win8, I thought I'd present some links with good info that could help y'all decide whether to make the jump or not.

This first link gives a lot of tips and tricks on how to use Win8: 50 Windows 8 tips, tricks and secrets | News | TechRadar It's talking about the Consumer Preview version so the final release might have some differences.

This second link gives a good rundown on how Win8 will impact tablets: Windows 8 tablets release date, specs and prices | News | TechRadar

This third link I found quite interesting. It's about a new type of mouse that doesn't use buttons...but is touch enabled, much like a phone or tablet: How Microsoft made the Touch Mouse | News | TechRadar This device could make controlling Win8 on a non-touch desktop or laptop much easier.

Personally, I intend to get the Win8 upgrade at the reduced price and then waiting till touch screen monitors come down a bit in price. Then I'll get my third 27"er.
