I'm not a gamer, but I lived with one as a roommate for fourteen years. Dear Lord, if they're all as worthless and disconnected as he was, the entire group could be thrown away with and no useful part of society would be lost. This knuclehead whined on September 11th that his cartoons had been pre-empted by the news coverage. He was 26 at the time.

I'm a gamer - I map and mod which most game-players don't do, as well.

Dinner's on the table every night.
The kids are all properly adjusted - no drowning them to give myself more play time.
Dishes and laundry all get done.
I'm researching a business plan.
I'm maintaining my high gpa in college.

Gaming is just a hobby.

One that I excell at - it is my fun amid all the work I do.

No see - my kids all play as well . . . they're my guinea pigs for my new maps and mods I do :D

Ahh, you make them gold farm for you. Good show!

They aren't. In fact, people like that are a small minority. My wife and I both play video games in our spare time. Spare time being the operative word. We recognize (as do most other people who play video games) that other things are more important. The games are just something fun to do to relax.

That's the way it should be. Props to you. There's been too many times in my life where I was too invested in video games to give a **** about the important aspects of my life.

Yes - I'm sure if I didn't have a life beyond gaming I'd be as grungy as they get - like Nedry on Jurassic Park :D

I ahd a friend of mine in EQ and EQ2 who would play 2 or 3 nights a week with their 2 sons, age 14 and 12 IIRC last I heard from them. We used to plan out those nights to spend with her, her husband and the 2 kids and would have a blast. No swearing, no off color comments, do something hard enough to excite the kids but not too hard that we could not handle it. Great kids, they where so polite to us and seemed to honestly apreciate that we tried to help them and make the game fun for them.

Is gaming any better or worse than spending lots of time on an internet forum?

Both activities are just as productive.
