A gamer's life (s)

and its useless for anything else.

Not quite.

I'm not a gamer, but I lived with one as a roommate for fourteen years. Dear Lord, if they're all as worthless and disconnected as he was, the entire group could be thrown away with and no useful part of society would be lost. This knuclehead whined on September 11th that his cartoons had been pre-empted by the news coverage. He was 26 at the time.

Dear lord, I actually agree with Tigger.

So many dudes my age are children, and not just with video games or fanboy BS; with almost everything. It's embarrassing as a male, honestly.

Gamers! Get a life man.

IF this is sarcasm, I'll treat it as such. IF it is serious, well, I could rip it to shreds in seconds - or at least hope others could, using logic.

PC gaming is superior to console gaming in every possible aspect.

So did he whine because he was a gamer? Or because he was a cartoon-lover?

Indeed! When my old computer bit the crappy 5 years of modding went down the drain with it - my husband bought me ut2k for console.

I rebuilt my mod repertoire as best as possible - I refuse to even entertain the idea of playing an inferior version of any game.

I agree, but it's too bad that there are a lot of good games out there that are being developed solely for the console market.

All you need is one good pc game - and the ability to do whatever the hell you want with it :D

Pretty much not anymore. The next gen there's not going to be much difference till maybe towards the end of the console's life cycle. There's not much that PC can do to keep ahead without costing thousands of dollars. I like my PC for certain games, other games I prefer on console.

What's even worse is that most modern PC games were clearly designed to also function on a console, which means they've done silly things to accommodate both platforms. Skyrim's a good example. That's an outstanding game (obviously), but you know damn well that the interface wouldn't be so clunky if it had been designed solely with a PC in mind.

For some games, the PC is better. For some games, consoles are better. Each has its pros and cons.

I own Halo 2 on PC. It's ridiculous the degree to which it was merely an Xbox port to PC.

I'm mostly a PC snob myself, and I do believe that PC is inherently the superior platform. Like I said above, I think that for some games consoles SEEM better because developers seem to dedicate more time and focus to console versions of games nowadays. For instance, I can't get over the fact that they made Halo Wars (an RTS game) an Xbox360 exclusive title!

A possible exception would be action-adventure and some hack and slash games which are inherently more suited to gamepad controllers than keyboards.

It's better for two types of games: party games, and games with the word "Madden" in it.

I kept a console around to play Madden with my buddies, and I played social games with buddies at times. Our favorite was Super Monkey Ball.

For everything else, PC without question.

Oh, and if you want to say "Halo", I'll consider it an acceptable answer.

I'd put MMOG and RTS games on PC, all others on Console. Particularly the FPS genre, it's clearly better on console.

They did a decent job, but something like an RTS does benefit from full keyboard control. In many cases the keyboard/mouse can make certain things easier. I just don't think that in all cases easier is better.

meh, I use a 360 controller on my PC, and I still have keyboard and mouse for other games - best of both worlds this way - often with better graphics then the console versions too (granted I miss out on some console only titles, but I generally favor PC type games more anyhow).

I'm an avid gamer. Have been for years.

I started out in 1985 on a Tandy CoCo II. Moved up to a C-64 in 88, then a XT-PC in 90 or so. (Anyone remember CGA graphics?) After that, my PC's just got better and better. In my home office now I have a PC, a PS3 and an XBox 360 along with quite a few games that I've completed. I've spent more time gaming that any other pursuit outside of work and sleep in my life. However, I never neglected my wife of nearly 30 years, my children grew up healthy, happy and capable; and I've never missed a social event of importance. All that and I've held down a very good job for nearly 16 years. ( I retired from the Navy in 1996 as a Chief Petty Officer)

The only thing I've cut out is television. I've probably watched less TV than anyone I know.

It's all about moderation.

By the by, I'm currently playing Star Wars: The Old Republic instead of watching TV in the evenings. It's a great game.

Oh, and Diablo 3 STILL sucks.

How exactly are you defining better here? Because I'd agree with you that FPS games are both more numerous and generally better quality on consoles, but the PC control setup is better suited to them. Which is why so many of the console FPS games include some sort of aiming assistance, because the control stick sucks for aiming a gun.

I pretty much agree with Gipper though. The only games that are better suited to a console than a PC are party games.

Auto aim is for noobs. I don't use it. I like the controls of the console much better for FPS than keyboard/mouse. It feels more like actual aiming on the console than it does on the computer.

You know what I absolutely hate about console FPS's? The fact that turning around 180 degrees takes like five seconds...
