Diablo III Launching May 15

I've heard that its totally online. As in not able to play it while not connected to the internet...please tell me this isn't true!

I was 12 when Diablo 1 came out. I remember upgrading my ram on my old Packard Bell myself in order to play multiplayer. Online gaming with a modem in order for our mothers to ruin it when they picked up the phone. Some of us played legit, others duped and cheated and lied about how they "Found a Godly Plate of the Whale legit, no lie." It was glorious, and I obsessed about all Diablo 2 news on the fansites until it was released. Eager for any screenshot or 320x200 cam video of gameplay.

At first I felt a little let down by Diablo 2's graphics, which was somewhat remedied by the expansion with a higher resolution, but the gameplay itself was so great and had so much replay value I got over the graphics right away. Diablo 2 was worth the wait.

I didn't follow Diablo 3 news, or screenshots or spoilers this time around; I didn't want to do it to myself, and these days there are far more great games available to hold me over than there were in High School waiting for Diablo 2. When I heard about the beta I applied of course, only to get in for that open beta weekend. I was underwhelmed by the beta to say the least. All stat point allocation, skill/spell level/trees and customization were removed, the game was far too easy and just.... too casualized. I know we only got part of an Act to play in but I fail to see how the game is going to get "Hardcore." The Wizard combat and spells were IDENTICAL to my Mage's in Torchlight.

I will be buying it, and playing it with all of my old friends... but I really am not looking forward to it much. I found myself bored fast and anxious to get through the content so I could say "yeah I played the beta." Some of my friends who see promise in it suggested that I should have tried another class, but I couldn't stomach going through that boredom all over again.

Crap! The only reason I went online for D2 was to just see what it was like. I MUCH prefer playing diablo off line. Also if they ever take the diablo server offline they had damn well better put a patch in that makes the game playable without the internet. I absolutely HATE when a company puts out an online only game and then a couple of years later pulls the plug on the servers making that game effectively unplayable.

well in d2 they had sever side client side issues. in versions 1.9 and earlier people had figured out ways of making single player items and transferring them to closed battlenet.numerous duplication tricks(after the mass ban some years back i believe in v1,12 my guy survived with a perm pair of imp shanks, probably one of the last)also to mention hacks where even replaced by scripts that did the same thing as hacking.

really its pretty much impossible to make the game hack/cheat resistant from a client side game like d1 and 2,as learned from wow and guild wars, server side games tend to only have problems with bots!

I know they had lots of hacks and dupe problems in D2 when playing online. But as I rarely played online it never affected me.

I can understand why they did it. I just don't like it for the reason I gave earlier. Now if they ever decide to close the servers down and patch it to where you can play offline then I'll be completely fine with it. Unfortenately gaming companies are not well known for patching their games to single player, offline mode, before taking their servers offline.

btw anyone texas time my battle tag is beerftw#1594 i will probably start playing a shorttime after launch,i gotz no work tomorrow:2razz:

Mine is Fiddytree#1302. I haven't started yet. I'll start up tomorrow.

Seems to be massive problems for Blizzard on this launch.. a lot of my friends cant even get the damn game installed.. granted they not exactly Bill Gates when it comes to PCs, but still....

Was sold out in my local gaming store.... well the one I checked.. will check tomorrow again.

That's the problem with server services. Too many on at the same time or not enough room given, and wham, there goes the service. I preordered last night before the opening at midnight, though I don't think I needed to. Walked out with a standard edition later than I could have with just walking in. That said, I still haven't started the game up.

I'm trying to get the will to start the game up. Like I know my life will suck away.

wow battle just keeps crashing, too bad im already at level 29 and almost at the end of act3,that was just about the time all of battlenet crashed for every game:2razz:

I only had that crash once, but it was pretty annoying. Luckily it wasn't an incredibly bad-timed moment. I am something like level 9, I think. I saw you around, boyo. Your achievements showed up every few minutes lol.

level nine huh,btw the game gets way harder in act 2 and leveling becomes stale in act 3:shock:

i am currently finding out tha single player is a royal challenge past act 2,and the game was clearly designed for team play.

I supply a 500 man TS3 server for the different games I play and the clans/guilds associated with them. I have a D3 channel that the few of us friends are using while in D3. If any DP would like to use the D3 channel to chat while playing, send me a PM and I will pass along the connection info.

From the D3 wiki:
On August 1, 2011, it was reported that Diablo III will feature two types of auction houses; one where players spend in-game gold and another where players can buy or sell virtual items for real-world money.[33] The real-money auction house will not be available in Hardcore mode.[34]
Blizzard has stated that nearly everything that drops on the ground, including gold, can be traded with other players directly or through the auction house system. Aside from certain quest items, there will be very few (if any) items that will be bound to a particular character and therefore un-tradable.[34]
In order to get rated in South Korea, Blizzard has agreed to drop the real-money auction house from the Korean release of the game as some Korean government members thought the auction house violated Korean anti-gambling laws. [35]
In the gold-based auction house, a flat fee of 15 percent will be taken from the final sale price of an auction. The real-money auction house fees will be $1 USD, €1, £1, etc. from equipment (weapons and armor) and 15 percent from crafting materials. There is an additional 15 percent "cashing-out" fee from proceeds gained selling items in the real-money auction house. [36]
While the gold-based auction house is available to any player regardless of which region they play in, the real-money auction is restricted to players on their home region. If they use the global play function to play in a different region, they will not be able to access the real-money auction house. [37]

I would love to see a similar system implemented in World of Warcraft, both to cut down on the hackers and reduce the risk of being banned by those who use the currently 'illegal' service.

I've heard that Blizzard announced it would take about 6 months to complete the game. When it came out here in SK, someone beat the game in 6 hours

1337 players with no lives play Beta to identify and learn how to exploit loopholes in the system. One such loophole, in WoW, is that if you frequently swap out 4 of the 5 characters in a dungeon, the 1 character who was never swapped out gets 5x the exp for the boss kill.

Add to this, moltibox players and unresolved hax, and as-yet undetectable bots.

I remember when people actually played games and did not have to pay people to cheat at them for them. Gimp ass players who have to buy things with RL money should not play online games.

I have to sit back and appreciate the new perspective. All these years folks who hated on gold-buyers, painting Blizz as the victim. Blizzard not only knowingly condoned a limited frequency of gold buying in WoW, but now with D3 they've actualy incorporated this taboo into their standard game structure.

Being allowed to buy gold and items for money is what brought down Ultima Online. If they aren't careful, it will end D3 as well.

On the one hand, I like the idea of being able to buy a few virtual items for real money through the game. Epic flying was a big reason folks bought gold, as they didn't have the time or couldn't stand the mind-numbing weeks-long grind.

On the other hand, if buying gold and items is allowed, then one is forced to buy just to keep up.

Diablo 3 Beaten in Just 7 Hours?
Diablo 3 dead in 6 hours of launching in Korea | Justin.my

Nope, not Beta. The real one.
I could only find these ones, because other links are to Korean sites

I never understood the need some people have to rush through a game. Games are meant to be enjoyed. Not conquered so damn fast that the enjoyment lasts as long as it takes you to blink.
