I quit WoW

I quit wow last week after playing for about 5 years.
I was the leader of a guild of over 360 characters (approx 200+ individuals)

I'm kindof missing it, I was the battleground leader and spent more time with those people than I did real life friends, I knew them better than most people around me.
Hard to let go. Easy to do, but hard to deal with. I happen to be moving overseas and had no choice but to not renew my account.

The Guild is <Blood Pact> on Alterac Mountains Server (US)[Alliance].
It is a pure PvP guild. If anyone has interest or experience I would refer you to them.

Just felt like sharing. I will definitely miss them.

I hear ya bro. I got out a few years ago, but I was doing many of the same things. It is a complete lifestyle change. It is an addiction, but it will go away.

Good luck.

Welcome back to the real world.

I played UO, a few others, DAOC, SWG, and when WOW came out I felt enough was enough. I went through withdrawls too. Personally, I have never gone back to F/T gaming, and I believe I'm happier for it. The loss of ambition, productivity, etc., was just too much. I did single player games for a while after, at least they had a pause/save feature that allowed me to eat dinner on time and not have to stick it out on a 4 hour raid to the bitter end because of the time investment, etc. Now I'm down to 30 minute flash type games, ipad games at most. I'll still play the occasional big box single player games that come out, but the more they get consolized and big budget, the less I enjoy them even on for a weekend diversion.

Not to sell a recovering crack addict crack, but League of Legends was also a nice PvP fix but one that comes in bite-sized 1 hour chunks making it easier to have a life and still get some RPG style PvP action.

Personally I would think 5 years is plenty of indulgence, phase it out and get some real-life stuff going is the advice I'd have given myself (and luckily took!). Like everything in life, you'll look back with nostagia on that. Save those screen shots so you can show your kids one day, after all it's part of your history :)

I used to play WoW and then I leveled. What was there to do? Battlegrounds. Boring. Very very boring. Dungeons? I dont feel like being at the edge of my seat for any longer than 20 minutes. I rather be surfing the web. My friend keeps trying to get me back playing and honestly its like unenjoyable work to me.

The WOW forums are more entertaining then the game, yeah know what you're saying.

Ive been playing wow almost 7 yrs...I havent played in 3weeks and thats the longest ive ever gone...Im an officer in a guild that fluctuates between 870 and a 1000 members which is max for a guild.
Im in the beta for Mists of Pandaria which is actually very good imo...and Im playing the beta Diablo3 which utterly sucks in my opinion...its like a 12 yr old game...point click move...horrible.
Im strongly considering giving wow up entirely...havent been having fun for a while....I have a free beta key for Tera and guildwars...Tera looks AWESOME..... and if i like the beta im going with tera....
I was surprised it was rated M mature....and its pvp is supposed to be far superior to wow....heres a trailer

Oh thank god, a WOW lover hates Diablo 3, that means it's gonna be awesome and like Diablo 2.

heh...well Ive played the original nukenukem, original wolfenstein...doom and all the quake series...I thought I could have an opinion about Diablo3...if you liked diablo and 2 you will like diablo3...the graphics to me are lousy...the click and move thing is Old hat...the mechanics TO ME suck...I dislike the game....but I hope it lives up to your expectations and you have a blast playing it..:) thats what gaming is for

WoW was always lame, sorry but its true. But its good to unplug from an addicting mmorpg for your health if nothing else. I used to play Magic World Online and life has been great since I quit. Im more into single player games now that I can just not play for days and comeback and pick up where I left off. Plus no having to deal with little kids and their egos.

I cant disagree with you...except that wow was always lame...it was a great game until wrath then it started to go downhill...thats my take.

I can't stand the stupid pet tricks bosses do in WOW introduced in Cataclysm I think. That's what I call them "stupid pet tricks." Once you learn the stupid pet tricks it's almost mind numbingly simple to do it, and you get to have the pleasure of teaching every single stupid PUG how to do it, and half of the time they don't listen.

That's what I felt like playing WOW, my mind was numb from a lack of thinking.

I dont disagree...it got easier and easier over time...I think blizz plan was to draw in and appeal to more younger kids....it worked.
Vanilla and BC were good...went down hill from there imo....the days when AQ40 reigned were long gone after wrath.
I gave up pve and went strictly pvp when I was on...at least I had a person thinking as an opponent....but now that become redundant too.
It may very well be time for me to move on....on the 20th tera's beta starts release date I believe is may 3rd....it has an emphasis on pvp and they are touting target based pvp...not point and click to target....for example its more FPS targeting...

This is what WOW is:

A light comes on and you push a button, 2.0 It's a reaction time test with graphics

All you do in that game is react to what's happening, you can never force your will on it. You follow through an easily memorized maze, stand still most of the time and mindlessly go through your easily memorized "rotation", and anything outside your "rotation" you simply react to what the program is doing by pushing a button when a light comes on 2.0

In fact, I hate WOW game mechanics so much that when I downloaded and played Star Trek Online for free (they aint getting a penny from me either), I downloaded Autohotkey, learned how to write their little script language and came up with this fancy script so I wouldn't have to do some lame-ass rotation.

how many buttons do you need for that fps? 5? do you realize any truly competitive player has approx 40 binds+ in wow?

Something that requires thinking

Mashing buttons in a predetermined sequence is what data entry people do for a living.

Matt i dont know where all this angst for wow comes from...but your impressing me that you dont have a clue how to play wow

I pre ordred and downloaded Tera...its on beta starting the 20th and goes gold May 3rd or tentatively...by preordering you get to pre choose a user name and choose your character for the beta etc etc...i hope this turns out to be a good mmorph

I still don't get the idea that WoW is super easy to play, maybe compared to when it first came out. But I tend to play a lot of games and still have a hard time getting rotations down and don't even get me started on how awful I was at tanking. DPS can definitely be considered easy tho, I'll give you that.

You have it exactly backwards...when the game first came out it was Very difficult to lvl to 60...I will say it was harder and took longer to lvl to 60 when the game first came out than it does to lvl to 85 now.
Wow has a HUGE learning curve...people that have been playing it forget that...forget when they first started and they were dazed and confused and needed tutoring and addons up the gazoo..just to have a clue where you needed to go....now thats all built right into the game....
40man AQ40 was TOUGH...bah everything was harder in vanilla...you needed to group all the time just to lvl...so many elites on quests then.

That's exactly what I meant, I've heard it used to be much tougher. And I concede that argument, I still enjoy it tho.

I quit several months ago but honestly I'm starting to miss it a little. It is nice not feeling like the world is going to end because you missed a raid, didn't get your arenas in for the week, or got behind on your dailies though.

I played a raid main tank in wrath and they really laid the guilt on nice and thick if I had to do something off line or just wanted to take a break. In Cataclysm I feel like in their effort to make it more challenging they just made it tedious.
