Compromise on birth control and abortion?

I was just wondering if those here who are pro-choice would allow more restrictions on abortion if pro-lifers would allow more comprehensive sex education in schools and allow accessible birth control to teens and the poor to help prevent unwanted pregnancies. And I was wondering if there were pro-lifers here who would allow more comprehensive sex education in schools and allow accessible birth control to teens and the poor to help prevent unwanted pregnancies if pro-choicers would allow more restrictions on abortions.

Re: Compromise on birth control and abortion?

Negative. I don't speak for all pro-choicers, but I don't support any further limitations on abortions.

Birth control education is and has always been up to the parents. Some schools help out and some don't. I wish more did, but nobody can stop kids from learning.

Re: Compromise on birth control and abortion?

I'm pro-choice politically, and pro-life personally. That being said, I don't believe that increasing education will have any significant effect on illigetimacy or abortion rates. It's not the intellectual capacity of young people that is causing the problem. Schools have been teaching BC and family planning-type courses since I was in high school in the early 70's. It seems to be more of a cultural and moral decline that is causing the problem than anything else. That's not really anything that education can change.

I'll negotiate on all sorts of things.

How about; you get elective abortion if you also have to complete Financial Peace University Lifetime Membership? I would then have no problem with the whole thing funded by tax payers. Sound good?

Sex-ed in the school? Fine, great...only as an elective and parents get to see all material up front.
Alternatively, I'll give you mandatory sex-ed in the curriculum if you give me alternative sources to acquire that sex-ed; to include certified instructors in private companies and churches. After all, choice is king, right?

There is no personal/political dynamic. You either support someone else's ability to abort or you don't. It's truly one of those rare things which is actually black or white.

You are pro-choice, which is fine, but we need to have clarity of that up front.

Interesting attempt at a compromise, Sams.

Some of the responses (already) show just how un-compromising the left is on this.

About a year ago, I offered a compromise of my own (on the Air America- Jerry Springer show),... And I got pretty much the same kind of responses. I have to admit, your compromise should be a lot more to their liking than my own.... so I'm surprised at the reluctance to accept.

ha yeah, only the left is unwilling to compromise. And why should they be willing to compromise? Abortions are already legal; pro lifers are the one who want things changed. I don't see people who view abortion as murder willing to compromise.

Did you not click on my link?

I offered a compromise that I would not only support.... but it is also a compromise that would let you have all the abortions you want and for any reason you want.

I just want you to admit you are killing a child when you are doing so.

Yeah, I clicked on your link. Why should we admit to something that is not true to gain absolutely nothing???

OMG this is too good. Your own definition of child includes birth as a definition You've thoroughly proved your idea of "child" is not universal. Now give up on your silly compromise.
