As you might be able to see I am new to DebatePolitics but I hope to have a good start. And I want to start with this issue because it is one that is important to me.

There are several things that people do not know about abortion. Like the several different types of methods involved.

For instance. The drug RU-486. Not many people know what that is. It is one method of abortion. The women take the RU-486 which blocks progesterone. Progesterone is a vital horomone to development of the baby while still in the uteris.

After RU-486 a second drug is given which then allows the baby to expel from the uteris. Women who take this drug experience severe cramps, and vomiting.

Then there is the suction-aspiration. This is the worst in my opinion because the baby can feel everything that is going on. the cervical muscle is widened, and a suction tube with a knife on the end slices the baby up and sucks it out into peices.

All of these methods plus many more are wrong! Now, I am not here to start riots, or shoot doctors; I just want to let people know my views. If you don't agree with me that is fine, your intitled to your opinion.

90% of abortions occur within the first twelve weeks, before the baby's nervous system is functional enough to feel pain.

And is your objection really about abortion methodology, or about the snuffing out of an innocent life? Because it isn't very clear from your post, and the fact that RU-486 makes women nauseous is hardly compelling... half the medicines I take make me nauseous.

A lot of people will hate me for saying this, but I believe abortions should not be performed after 12 weeks.

It is your opinion.

I can see the arguments why it should be at that stage but a very small minority of abortions occur past a 20 week stage, so it does little harm to keep the barrier where it is

wholeTRUTH (hereafter, WT): While I agree with your position, you're going to have to structure your points a little more thoroughly if you expect to get any traction here. The standards for good debate are fairly high.


That's an assumption. You'd do better to say "many people don't know about _____"... assuming anyone here lacks raw information about a subject they comment on is unwise. DP has its share of the informationally-handicapped, but many posters are very well-informed.


Many of the pro-abortion people are perfectly aware of how barbaric abortion proceedures are, they just don't care because they don't consider a "fetus" to be a real person. I've been butting my head against that wall for months.



In these forums it is generally considered inadequate to simply say something is wrong, but rather you must explain why it is wrong and offer evidence supporting that claim.

The fundamental reason for proclaiming abortion is wrong is the assertion that the unborn is a human person deserving of the right to not have its life ended capriciously or unjustly. This is also the root cause of the inability of the pro-life vs the pro-abortion crowd to see each other's point of view. Based on my own life experiences and a careful consideration of the ethical issues relating to the unborn, I am unable to see a fetus as a mere unwanted lump of tissue: to me it is a baby, a human person. The other side of the debate declines to see it as a human person. I have been unable, so far, to find a way of changing any of those minds that are already set in their opinion. If you can do better, I will certainly applaud your success - but be prepared to fight an uphill battle and make sure your points are very thoroughly prepared.

Wrong, my side is the woman's rights trump that of the fetus. I am not for forcing a woman to go through 9 months of biological and emotional changes for an unwanted pregnancy.

If the Pro-Life doesn't want abortions, find a way to remove the fetus from the mother and incubate it. Otherwise I will always side with the woman's right to not go through it.

Feel free to disagree with me all you want, it doesn't matter to me, but don't tell me what my side of the argument is. There are more than just two sides of the argument.
